7 ycombinator startups from the winter 2026 batch that raised beyond the standard $500k check – all niche @ycombinator sees it clearly: ai is maturing. building one-for-all ai tool does not work anymore. the next wave the next wave is industry-specific. here's where the money went: 1/ @gen_legal_inc ai-native law firm for founders. contracts in hours, not days, flat fees, attorneys from casetext (acq. by thomson reuters) 2/ @constspace ai os for satellite mega-constellations. team from spacex, blue origin & nasa 3/ @FenrockAI ai agents for bank back-office compliance. the harvey for community banks 4/ caretta real-time ai that joins your sales calls, handles objections live, gets smarter after every call 5/ @GrazeMateInc autonomous drones that herd cattle across millions of acres. physical ai for ranching 6/ @PatientdeskAI ai front back office for dental practices. bookings, payments & insurance on autopilot 7/ remyai turns existing warehouse cameras into a live intelligence layer. productivity, safety, zero new infra needed the ai market is maturing. follow @thehypedotnews for daily analysis and breakdowns in ai

non-consumer hardware represents ~15% of @ycombinator W26 hard-tech is back. spacetech: @axionorbital - Foundation models for 24/7 Earth Observation @constspace - AI for space mission assurance @gru_space - Building the first hotel on the Moon @KytenTech - Custom battery packs for aerospace vehicles defense: @DroneTector Detect and track hostile drones @S2_INC AI Drone Systems for Defence robotics: @GrazeMateInc Robot cowboys mustering cattle with AI drones @Servo7Robotics Autonomous Warehouse Robots manufacturing: @DAIVIN_TECH Tankless dive gear for breath autonomy @AurorinCAD Modern CAD for mechanical engineers @SquidEnergy AI-powered grid planning imo the most significant impact of YC's industrial push is drawing elite talent away from building another outbound tool or trading corn derivatives at a hedge fund and getting them excited about automating manufacturing again.

Constellation (@constspace) predicts satellite network failures before they happen and automatically reroutes traffic in seconds—no human intervention, no data loss. Congrats on the launch @kamranmajid11, @raaidkabir, @laithaustin, @omeedtehrani! ycombinator.com/launches/P9f…

Amazing!
NEWS: The FCC has just authorized @SpaceX to deploy and operate up to 15,000 next-gen satellites (up from 7,500). "This expansion will enable SpaceX to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet service globally, including enhanced mobile and supplemental coverage from space." The FCC’s decision allows SpaceX to: • Upgrade the Gen2 Starlink satellites with advanced form factors and cutting-edge technology. • Operate across Ku-, Ka-, V-, E-, and W-band frequencies, supporting both Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) and Mobile Satellite Service (MSS). • Waive obsolete requirements that prevented overlapping beam coverage and enhanced capacity. • Add new orbital shells at altitudes ranging from 340 km to 485 km, optimizing coverage and performance. • Provide direct-to-cell connectivity outside the United States and supplemental coverage within the U.S., paving the way for next-generation mobile services.

We talk about technical debt in software. We don’t talk about operational debt in orbit - and it compounds faster.

Starlink’s scale is becoming undeniable.
NEWS: SpaceX has released its 2025 Starlink progress report. Highlights: • Added 4.6 million new Starlink customers • 20 million cruise passengers served • 21 million airline passengers served • More than 1,400 commercial aircraft were equipped with Starlink, which is nearly four times the number of planes on which Starlink was installed on in 2024. • Equipped more than 800 business jets across 36 airframes with 5 Original Equipment Manufacturers. • Starlink is now connecting more than 150,000 vessels/boats, including cargo, tanker, tug, passenger, fishing, patrol, commercial cruise ships, and offshore supply vessels. • Over 650 direct-to-cell satellites now in orbit • Starlink Direct to Cell'has connected more than 12 million people, and counting, at least once, providing life-saving connectivity when people need it most. • On average, more than 6 million people monthly actively rely on Starlink Direct to Cell to connect their phones in areas where terrestrial service is unavailable. • 120 Falcon 9 Starlink missions • Reahced 600 TBPS cumulative capacity • 35 new Starlink markets added • In January, SpaceX began launching Starlink V2 Mini Optimized satellites. These are 575 kg (1,267 lbs) lighter than the previous generation, and include improvements in reliability. • A successful flight of two Mini Lasers in Summer 2025 demonstrated greater than 25 Gbps data transfer between the demonstration units and existing Starlink mesh. • In 2025, median peak-hour global speeds increased by over 50%, with median download speeds averaging over 200 Mbps and typical upload speeds of more than 30 Mbps, with a median global latency around 26 ms. • This year, Starlink achieved and exceeded an impressive delivery rate of 70 satellites per week. • SpaceX's Printed Circuit Board factory quadrupled its output over the past year. • And much more

We believe that AI is most powerful when it predicts failure before humans ever notice the symptoms. That prediction gap in infrastructure quietly costs billions today. The technology being built now will make tomorrow’s networks as reliable and autonomous as the terrestrial internet.

In high-throughput satellite systems, a single missed handoff can cascade into minutes of lost data and hours of recovery work. Reliability isn’t just uptime - it’s operational leverage.
