A lot of ppl are misinterpreting this so I'll do some more:
Metroidvania is less a genre and more a loose structure where a lot of different experiences are allowed but it is too often viewed through a much narrower souls(like) lens.

The problem with that metroidvania tierlist is less that it ranks super metroid so low and more that it demonstrates such a shallow pov of the genre: as a sum of bosses, levels, combat, etc. Sadly this how most people view the genre nowadays.

I've been saying the divide between the technology and toys is such an underrepresented struggle in media.
Toy Story 5 hit me in places I was unprepared for! Exploring the divide between technology and toys through Jessie results in a deeply profound, moving story that had me in a puddle of tears. I put it up there with Toy Story 2 & 3. It's *that* excellent! #ToyStory5
