Cortex is 5 years old today! The initial commit, which had a KV abstraction and some of the initial sharding code, is still in use to this day... github.com/cortexproject/cor…
We’ve just open sourced a Kubernetes operator for @cortexmetrics. If you are using Cortex, or thinking about it, take a look. We opened this very early so you can follow progress and contribute.

Very good question from @roidelapluie today on @fosdem:
"What prevents @CortexMetrics & @ThanosMetrics merging?"
TL;DR: Current state (not merged/sharing code) has its perks and both projects don't want to spend 6 months renaming variables 🤗🙃
We just released Cortex 1.7.0-rc.0, containing 86 contributions from 23 authors!
Highlights:
- Queries can now be federated across multiple tenants (experimental)
- Introduction of a per-tenant bucket index for block storage
Give it try :)

I'd summarise the problems enterprises face with @Prometheus into broadly three categories: federation, scale & security.
The federation arch for Prometheus is pretty out there for a lot of enterprises; this is why project like @ThanosMetrics and @CortexMetrics exist. 3/n
