NEW podcast episode is up! How to Simplify Your Life in 2026 — New Tips from Maria Popova, Morgan Housel, Cal Newport, Craig Mod, and Debbie Millman Many of us feel like we’re drowning in invisible complexity. So I wanted to hit pause and ask a simple question:  What are 1-3 decisions that could dramatically simplify my life in 2026?  To explore that, I invited five long-time listener favorites: @themarginalian, @morganhousel, Cal Newport, @craigmod, and @debbiemillman. Please enjoy! tim.blog/2026/03/10/how-to-s…

Going solo again next year. Back to the brand identity and product advising work I did for 15 years with early-stage tech. Feels like the obvious choice as the market gets wants capable people with range working independently. Finally collecting a portfolio and gawwwd.

Today marks 1 year since @EnriqueAllen's passing. I still miss him terribly. His energy, his infectious smile, his ability to look at a problem 20 different ways. He was simply a wonderful friend, business partner, teacher, learner, and so much more. I still struggle to put our relationship into a simple bucket as it had so many different aspects. I also continue to grieve in moments big and small: a founder we took a chance on succeeding, the moments after successful work event, or frankly every time i look at the ocean. So many moments remind me of him. We lost an incredible human and while the passage of time helps, there will be a lifetime of healing required. The last year has made that clear. And, in the wake of it all, I know deep down he's also beaming with pride and love at how we've carried on the work, how his friends and colleagues have rallied to support his family, and how many folks remember him with so much joy in their hearts. Working with someone can be such a tremendous opportunity to connect with great people in meaningful ways and I'm grateful I got to do that with him. ---- This morning I went to visit a bench we dedicated for him at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. If you knew him and want to have a moment to reflect, it's in a perfect spot a bit south west of the main fountain. On the bench is a plaque that reads - Enrique Allen The seeds you planted will grow us gardens I can tell you the seeds are already sprouting...

For some reason, it looks like the ebook edition of Things Become Other Things is $1.99 today. (Hardcover is also $17, which is the cheapest I've seen it; I still get the same royalties, so you know, please, buy away 😂) amzn.to/4ntXoYW

I'm an avid reader of @craigmod. He's an inspiration for this solo trip on my 3rd visit to Japan. He's heading out again to walk 100 kilometers south-north along the Kiso-ji in Nagano, and then turning around and walking 100 kilometers back, north-south along the same route. Sign up here for the pop up daily newsletter about his journey. mailbot2000.craigmod.com/h/r…
