Today marks 1 year since
@EnriqueAllen's passing.
I still miss him terribly.
His energy, his infectious smile, his ability to look at a problem 20 different ways. He was simply a wonderful friend, business partner, teacher, learner, and so much more. I still struggle to put our relationship into a simple bucket as it had so many different aspects.
I also continue to grieve in moments big and small: a founder we took a chance on succeeding, the moments after successful work event, or frankly every time i look at the ocean. So many moments remind me of him. We lost an incredible human and while the passage of time helps, there will be a lifetime of healing required. The last year has made that clear.
And, in the wake of it all, I know deep down he's also beaming with pride and love at how we've carried on the work, how his friends and colleagues have rallied to support his family, and how many folks remember him with so much joy in their hearts.
Working with someone can be such a tremendous opportunity to connect with great people in meaningful ways and I'm grateful I got to do that with him.

This morning I went to visit a bench we dedicated for him at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. If you knew him and want to have a moment to reflect, it's in a perfect spot a bit south west of the main fountain.
On the bench is a plaque that reads -
Enrique Allen

will grow us gardens
I can tell you the seeds are already sprouting...
