Got this from a clinician at a major Sydney hospital. “Hospital swamped. More than 100 staff furloughed. 30 covid positive & 50 amber. It will be increasingly hard to do anything else. It’s difficult to describe how furious we are with perrotet. He will destroy the health system”

Not a fan of this approach to counting ICU patients. The disease symptoms and burden (to patient and health system) doesn't cease at the point that the person is no longer infectious.

It's important to remember that, as we "open up" the hospital systems will be facing huge patient loads and risks; dragging on for many,many months. The "new normal" is a long way away for health systems.. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

As a Melbourne emergency doctor during the Delta wave, I can only function in survival mode for so...

We are forced to take on more risk with every shift. And for patients, the emergency department is no longer always the safe place it should be
