The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) and the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) have formally signed Letter of Agreement to collaboratively work to address the critical issue of forced conversions, as it pertains to children and their fundamental rights. Forced conversions remain a pressing concern, especially for vulnerable children from religious minority communities. The collaboration aims to address this issue through a multi-pronged approach involving evidence-based research, policy dialogue, legal reform advocacy and community sensitization. By leveraging data, institutional frameworks and child protection mechanisms, the LOA envisions concrete actions to ensure that every child in Pakistan is safeguarded against coercion and exploitation in matters of faith and belief. This partnership reaffirms the NCRC’s commitment to upholding the rights of all children without discrimination and recognizes the urgency of coordinated, technical and rights-based interventions to combat systemic violations such as forced conversions. @mohrpakistan @csjthinktank @GovtofPakistan @UNICEF_Pakistan #childrights #childrenmatter #protectchildren #endchildabuse #stopchildlabour #righttoeducation #childprotection #childwelfare #everychildcounts #savethechildren #kidsrights #nochildleftbehind #childhoodmatters #justiceforchildren

The NCRC convened the 5th meeting of its Working Group of Minorities on Child Rights to review ongoing efforts and discuss strategic priorities related to the protection and promotion of minority children in Pakistan. During the session, Chairperson Ayesha Raza Farooq presented a comprehensive overview of the Commission’s quarterly progress, highlighting key initiatives and developments in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement and field-level interventions specifically for children from minority religions. A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Situation Analysis on Children from Minority Religions in Pakistan report. The study offers valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by minority children and serves as a foundation for evidence-based policy-making and targeted interventions. The meeting also discussed draft bill for forced conversion. As a way forward, the NCRC reaffirmed its commitment to address the critical issue of forced conversions and forced marriages. The Commission will focus on collaborative strategies, legislative advocacy and awareness campaigns to combat such serious child rights concerns. @mohrpakistan @GovtofPakistan @UNICEF_Pakistan #childrights #childrenmatter #protectchildren #endchildabuse #stopchildlabour #righttoeducation #childprotection #childwelfare #everychildcounts #savethechildren #kidsrights #nochildleftbehind #childhoodmatters #justiceforchildren
