It was once a crime to teach slaves to read. People fear equity when they're afraid to compete, justice when they know they're in the wrong.

Happy five year anniversary of pointing out that men cause pregnancy and could easily prevent abortion by ejaculating responsibly (but they choose not to) to all who celebrate.
I’m a mother of six, and a Mormon. I have a good understanding of arguments surrounding abortion, religious and otherwise. I've been listening to men grandstand about women's reproductive rights, and I'm convinced men actually have zero interest in stopping abortion. Here's why…

I just realized something I thought was some sort of phishing spam is actually a newsletter from some company where I applied for a job (that I never heard back about) a gazillion years ago. *headdesk*

I wish it didn't need to be said, but please don't use Chat GPT TO analyse your qualitative data. You most likely don't have this approval, or approval from participants to share the data on there. #QualitativeResearch #AI #Ethics

I once made a client (not publishing though, not sure how it works there) change this in my contract (and in how they added me to their system) but I shouldn't have had to.
Dear Publishers: Paying an author through an e-payment system is fine. Deducting fees for said system from the author's money is not. If, by the contract, I was supposed to get $500 but I only get $475 because of fees ... I did not get paid my contracted fee.

How about making this man and his approach to life go viral, instead of 45- yr-old tech billionaires spending $2 million a year to reclaim the organs and physical attributes of an 18-yr-old.
Over the years, Bobby Horne, a 6'5" security guard, often pulled over to help people whose cars had broken down. He did it again on the elevated spur btwn I-95 and Baltimore. Two other cars crashed, sending him over the barrier into the waters below. Hero: thebaltimorebanner.com/commu…

What NOT to do in election reporting. Providing accurate information is one aspect of good reporting. But especially around elections, good journalism MUST provide context and connect experts and explainers to their audiences. The alternative is to become conspiracy fodder.

When people say that sex ed should start as early as four, this👇🏾 is what they mean, not that you should teach children about sex. Teach your children about body basics, personal boundaries consent, how to identify inappropriate behaviour, and most importantly, listen to them.
Something happened in my home recently. We hired someone for a domestic position, and everything appeared to be going well. A few weeks into the role, my daughter came to me and said, ‘Mummy, I don’t want this person in our home. I don’t like this person’

What kind of person asks someone "Why not?" when they say do not want a DNR?!?!
Hospital employee: “Do you have a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate order)? Me: “No.” Employee: “Do you want one?” Me: “No.” Employee: “Why not?” Me: “I want to be resuscitated.” A DNR is a personal decision. Extensive questioning about it is coercive and harassment.

Consider how the service or process you're designing could be weaponized. Or, at the very least, the ways in which it structurally supports outcomes in conflict with the purpose, or makes it harder to do the right thing. Consider the consequences when it doesn't go smoothly.

Up to 2.1 million in Medicaid disenrolled as of yesterday with most states reporting large share of procedural denials. Absolutely terrible. And most big states still to come.
