Our church sent 4 women messengers to #sbc26. All 4 voted for @albertmohler ‘s Truth and Unity Amendment with the conviction that following God’s plan for His Church is what is best for women in our Church. Don’t listen to the noise. Real Baptist women in ministry are celebrating today.

A newly married couple of 22 year olds joined the church as members this morning and we have several young people that we talked to about scheduling baptisms! I’m thankful for what was decided at SBC, but glad to get back to work in the local church!
Last week the SBC was in the news. This morning they'll be in pews. Tens of thousands local expressions of the Lord's church will gather across this nation. May Jesus be exalted. May the saints be edified. May the lost be evangelized. Let's stay on mission.

The @IMB_SBC has a serious vaccine requirement problem, which means the churches of the SBC have a serious problem. I believe the policy is well-intended, but the details and execution are terrible! The IMB has to be able to serve (at least the vast majority of) Southern Baptist churches as their main international sending agency. But a mission board that overrides parental decisions on if, when, and how a missionary vaccinates their own children (especially when it is not an issue of access to their field location and it goes against the advice of their family pediatrician), will be difficult to convince the next generation of sent ones to simply salute and vax their kids according to the "medical experts" to go overseas with the IMB. I love the IMB and want to whole-heartily recommend it to all the "called ones" in our church to help them get on the mission field. But their (parental-rights-overriding) vaccine policy will be a(n unnecessary) barrier for many in our church to do that. Please take the time to read the story detailed below. My own interactions with the IMB on multiple occasions only confirms the accuracy of this policy and its implementation. Let's work and pray for change so that we can send more workers into the harvest!
A Southern Baptist missionary family spent over a decade preparing to reach a closed Muslim country. The IMB sent them home. Not over visas. Not over security. Over their infant daughter's vaccine schedule. They aren't anti-vaccine. They asked for one thing: that the timing and selection of their baby's vaccines stay a decision they could make with their own physician. The IMB said no. "This is the policy. You're either with it, or you're not." Here's what makes that a Baptist problem and not just a medical one: the IMB isn't a private company. It's a convention entity—built by Southern Baptist churches, funded from the pews. And the Baptist Faith & Message says God alone is Lord of the conscience. Vaccine scheduling isn't in Scripture. When an SBC entity turns a prudential medical judgment into a non-negotiable condition of service, it has crossed from policy into conscience-binding—the one thing Baptists have always said belongs to God alone. At last week's annual meeting, Chitwood told messengers the policy had been reviewed and affirmed. But it was a medical review. It never touched the conscience question. Two Missouri messengers filed motions anyway. Both are now before the IMB. The full story: open.substack.com/pub/agains… #sbc #imb

Man I left the convention ecstatic and very optimistic about the future! If this trend continues it will be very easy for me to lead our church into even greater giving and participation! And btw, our church is primarily growing with young families. It’s our biggest demographic. It’s wild some of the perspectives I’ve seen on SBC after the convention. I think it is not a reflection of how normal every day Southern Baptists feel, that are the main driving force of the convention.
In the past, I have attended the SBC national conference and commented on what I saw. Even in years when I did not attend, I made comments, given that the Southern Baptists discipled me and have been an important part of my life. There are dear people I care about who are in that denomination. This year I did not feel the energy or urge to make such comments. The denomination is on a downswing, and some of the action they are engaging in will facilitate that downswing. I do not say this with the glee I see some of the more progressieve Christian have had. It is a congregation that is having trouble attracting younger individuals, and it is taking steps that reinforce some of the dysfunctions that have emerged within that denomination. There are other vibrant expressions of conservative Christianity, especially within the nondenominational spaces that I see as deserving our attention today. I think they deserve our attention more than what is happening at the SBC.

Governor DeSantis understands that politicians work for the people and have to earn their support. Floridians deserve the chance to vet candidates, hear them debate the issues, and make up their own minds about who should lead our state.

Please pray for this church and for our brother HB
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: I am in Moneta (near Roanoke), Virginia, to preach the 20th church anniversary of Troy Keaton and the Eastlake Community Church. The service was in a tent on campus, with close to 1,000 attendees. Ten minutes into the service, a sudden, severe weather event pulled the support poles out of the ground and blew the tent off. One of the elders of the church went to be with Jesus, and several others were seriously injured. Please pray for Pastor Troy, Eastlake Church, and this community - that the hope of our risen Savior would be theirs in abundance during this crisis.

Dear Southern Baptist family, we have much work to do. As we return to Baptist headquarters (our local churches) for a busy season of ministry, I want to thank you again for your many expressions of prayer and support. As we look ahead, I assure you that it is my intent to lead out of the 7 Pillars of Renewal that I articulated throughout the spring. We are reworking our Baptist renewal website and will have a revised site up and running very soon. We want to provide a mechanism for Baptist people to express their concerns and questions. It is not possible or advisable to try to interact with every comment or question online, but we do care and want to find ways to interact with good faith concerns. We want to hear your ideas and attempt to answer questions that may come our way. The SBC President represents the people. My job is to serve you. We’re already hard at work, so stay tuned for more information to come.

Florida has given preferences for homestead properties in its constitution for nearly 100 years. Right now, revenue from non-homestead residential properties exceeds that from homestead residences. And the proposal reduces the property tax liability exposure for businesses. This is also a de facto protection for renters.
Replying to @RonDeSantis
They're saying it's progressive because it disproportionately taxes non-Floridians and those with multiple homes - groups more affluent than Florida homesteaders. What WSJ misses is that it's actually very regressive, as the whole scheme targets renters, the poorest group.

I like to hear this! Good signs!
At the SBCAM, a man came up to introduce himself. It was @evanlenow, the new President of the @ERLC! I didn't recognize him and he could've avoided me as one who's called for the end of the ERLC. But he chose to initiate a conversation. That speaks volumes about his character! I was encouraged by the conversation and have good hope that the ERLC will gain our trust under Evan's leadership.

"I am writing this because I don’t want supporters of this amendment to become complacent. This is not the time for that. You need to start making plans now to send your full slate of messengers to Indianapolis next summer. As your church starts its budget cycle later this year, set aside whatever you need to set aside to make sure your pastor and whatever messengers you can support are able to attend the meeting in Indy." —@DennyBurk
There was a lot going on at the SBC this week, but perhaps the most-discussed item was the vote on the Truth & Unity Amendment. This isn’t over yet, and it’s not a time for complacency. [Link to story in thread below.]

Grateful for @pastorclint’s leadership. He has served us well. For my friend @JoshuaWPowell, his humility & zeal for the gospel. The SBC is better because of men like him. Congrats to @WillyRice. Praying for you as you lead us forward. What a privilege to be a Southern Baptist.

This week at the SBC, Ozark Mayor and long-time Registration Secretary Don Currence encouraged Southern Baptists to consider serving in public office “I never in my life thought I would be doing public service, but God opened the door. I realize now we need Christians to be serving in public service… "It's not easy, but the thing is, we need Christians to take the lead in our government, in our city, and be involved.”

Brothers and fellow messengers at #sbc26: your church did not send you here to go to Disney world. They sent you to go to this meeting. Be in the Hall! 3:30 for presidential vote 4:30 for Mohler Amendment

Brothers, be in the hall!
Momentum always seems to be swinging in favor of the most (presumably) conservative candidate, or proposition, on X leading up to the SBC. At the end of the day, it's all about who gets the most people in the room. Not one single SBC decision in all of history has been decided on X. Never presume, always participate in the actual vote.
