I’m a dad, I love retro (especially Atari ST), I build stuff, AI helps me get shit done. I’m building a game and a pixel art sprite tool.

Let's talk about how fucking badass lemon&lime sprite editor is. Because I'm fucking proud of it. And it's only just beginning. It exports a fucktonne of formats. - Atari ST — Degas, NeoChrome and DPaint IFF, bundled into a real FAT12 .st. - Amiga — proper OCS/ECS IFF in a hand-rolled AmigaDOS OFS .adf - Amstrad CPC — Mode 0 screen OCP .WIN a palette-setting BASIC loader on an AMSDOS .dsk you can RUN. - C64 — Koala multicolour with per-cell colour reduction, on a CBM-DOS .d64 with real track/sector chains. - ZX Spectrum — a true .SCR with attribute handling, wrapped in a .TAP with a hand-tokenised autorun BASIC loader. - Atari 8-bit — four GTIA modes, each as a raw screen, a self-displaying .XEX, and a self-booting .ATR with a custom boot loader and an ANTIC display list hand-assembled in 6502. Palettes and constraints match the real fucking hardware. Spectrum colour clash. C64 colour regions. Atari mode budgets. If a frame breaks the rules you can jump straight to it. This shit is fucking amazing. You can draw your fucking sprite, download a disk image and throw that fucker right into your real machine or your emulator and it will fucking work. Put that in your motherfucking pipe and smoke it.

Conversion from 8-bit formats to the 16-bits should land tonight - the other way is going to be a bit of hard work that needs a bit of thinking about.

Testing import direct from disk - unfortunate that this particular game arranges its sprites in an awkward way, suggests I might need to have some more options on slicing. Anyway, good to see that it works either way.

Any Atarian needs to see this. Command & Conquer on an Atari ST. Insane.
Command&Conquer on Atari ST(e): Gameplay, mission debriefing and map selection. Work in progress.

If you haven't tried it yet, what's stopping you? If you have, show off what you've made. Free at lemonlime.kswapps.com, on any computer, phone or tablet. Export proper disk images for Atari ST (more coming). Tablet stylus makes making sprites easy. I'm proud of what I built.

DAD.PRG - making BombBloke retweeted
I don’t think any game caused more swearing than Nebulus but my god it’s pretty on the Atari ST. The C64 version is better though due to less input lag making some of the impossible jumps possible. Which version did you play? Running on MiSTerFPGA on a Sony Trinitron I picked up for £30 on eBay.

The obligatory plug: x.com/dad_prg/status/2065538… Also I’m making a game that blatantly rips off Bomb Uzal.

200 followers yay! I was on more but went down to 180 after pruning all the thot bots, fake Elons, members of the Trump household and assorted crypto bots. So now it’s 200 humans who like retro stuff. Tried to get a decent 200 followers image but holy fuck Grok is the most useless AI known to man. I mean it just doesn’t fucking work. Genuinely shocking how bad it is.

Who else enjoyed Bomb Uzal? It came with my Atari ST in the legendary Power Pack. Christmas 1989 was a good day for me. One of the best puzzle games on the ST. Fight me in the comments if you disagree!

x.com/koala_software/status/… If you like BombUzal my coming game BombBloke might interest you.

So I thought I'd show off the level editor I've been working on for Bomb Bloke, my puzzle game running in an Amstrad CPC464 mode 0 style on modern hardware. Let me know what you think in the comments. I can't wait to see the levels people build.

If you go around saying oh god ai is so dangerous to get government to regulate ai and thus snuff out any new players in the market, then this happens, it is objectively funny.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Spectrum colour clash handling (WIP) coming to Lemon&Lime. Mixing dark and light colours other than black is a nono, and a max of 2 colours in one square area. Exports are coming along, with some hopefully useful options for developers working with Spectrum computers. lemonlime.kswapps.com if you want to use it free.

And C64 region limits are handled too - 4 colours plus background per cell - anything more and the cell goes red and angry. Exports to C64-specific formats are coming along.

This is how you can export from Lemon&Lime to a real Atari ST - I'm so proud of what I've built and hope it's useful to someone out there. Enjoy. Link in comments because X hates links. Let me know what you think & what you make with it. Free, works on desktop, tablet or phone.

Can anyone name a better intro than this magnificent introduction to the Gamma system, coming in to land on Eris with the task of saving the world from a comet?
