So this is a VERY early look at Bomb Bloke - working title for my upcoming game, a few days into development.

So I made a tool to help Indie devs make sprite packs for their retro-themed games, using the proper palettes for a range of machines, or custom ones of their choosing. This video is more quick tutorial than promo. It's free as hosting costs are low, link in the replies.

A bit of childish fun but yep, sprite editor in progress. Might make this a proper product if there's interest in it.
A normal person would just use whatever sprite tools are available. And then there's me building my own because none of them have a workflow I like. This feels much more intuitive for me than any of the ones I've tried using that other people have made. This is why vibe coding is awesome. For making little tools to use yourself there's nothing better.

So I thought I'd show off the level editor I've been working on for Bomb Bloke, my puzzle game running in an Amstrad CPC464 mode 0 style on modern hardware. Let me know what you think in the comments. I can't wait to see the levels people build.

The high score table. Because I'm a grown up.

I’ll just leave this here.

Hmm what we really need is a game about a horse dentist.
This developer is making a horror roguelike where you do dental work on giant predators, aiming to clean up the mess without waking the beast.... or else. It's called Shark Dentist, are you interested?

So I'm starting to get the Amstrad CPC 464 aesthetic working. The colour scheme is now pure Amstrad, and we have the fat chunky pixels. Next job is to figure out how the fuck to make frogs, snails and bombs from so few pixels. Still, constraints breed creativity.

So I’m leaning towards a garden theme for Bomb Bloke. This may necessitate a change of name.

AI muffed it a little bit but don’t worry we’ll have something cool.

Such a delight to see Pragmata doing so well. It’s a fantastic game, and deserves all the plaudits.
Pragmata wins PlayStation Players’ Choice for April. blog.playstation.com/2026/05…

We do not do business with grifters. We do not appease the protection racket that she and the likes of Sweet Bany Inc represent. It is both immoral to do so and poor business.

Damn, @devolverdigital is standing on business regarding Anita Sarkeesian.

Started with Amstrad basic, moved to GFA Basic on the Atari ST and then STOS. All magnificent.
as a dev, what was your first code editor?

Europe is not a place for entrepreneurs. I speak from experience, it is actively hostile.

Best thing about Koala Software is absolutely zero Teams calls.
Idea: An anonymous “vote to end meeting” button on Teams where if 50% of people press it, the meeting ends immediately.

Should I add a journalist mode to BombBloke so it gets those sweet 10/10 scores? Or should I keep some integrity?
You don't hate game reviewers enough. You think you do, but you don't.

Trying to start a business in the UK is a Kafkaesque experience. Getting a Ltd company set up on a government website that doesn’t work & sends you on an infinite loop of x requires y requires z. Trying to get a business bank account is just random rejections & no info. Fml.

Trying out effects for the explosions. Do you think this is ok or a bit too much?

I really like the simplicity of just deploying via Kamal on a @Hetzner_Online box, cheap as chips, fast and reliable. Low effort infra is the way.

One thing I want to really make clear about Koala Software. We will not do anything that isn’t sustainable. So no shitty monetisation practices. No microtransactions. No bullshit. Fair prices for good features. That’s it.
