Exclusive interview with one of the designers of the
#NeoGeo AES !
Here are some of the most interesting details revealed during the interview.
_The original controller ports have been retained to ensure an experience identical to the original AES, with zero latency when using wired controllers.
_The console features an analog video output using the Mega Drive 2/Genesis 2 mini-DIN connector, a choice made to provide stereo audio, unlike the original AES output which was limited to mono sound.
_A custom BIOS developed by
@furrtek replaces the UniBIOS. It includes modern features such as AES/MVS mode selection, region switching, MVS soft dips, memory card management, and high-score saving.
_The console also incorporates Furrtek's smart overclocking feature, allowing the CPU frequency to be increased from 16 MHz to 24 MHz to reduce slowdown in certain games. Its effectiveness will still depend on the cartridges' ability to keep up with the higher operating speed.
_The Neo Geo AES simply would not exist without Furrtek's documentation work and technical expertise.
_Particular attention has been paid to the shell design, build quality and even the weight of the console and accessories.
