President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Expresses Appreciation for the Peaceful and Orderly Conduct of the Elections
Fellow Namibians,
With the final results of the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections now released by the Electoral Commission of Namibia, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all our people across the country. From the campaign period, to Election Day itself, and throughout the counting process, Namibians have once again shown the world who we are. We chose peace. We chose patience. We chose democracy.
I extend special appreciation to the Electoral Commission of Namibia for the professional manner in which they conducted this entire electoral process. I equally recognise the security cluster for their calm, coordinated and vigilant role in ensuring that our people exercised their democratic rights in a peaceful and secure environment.
I also acknowledge the media for the important role they played in keeping the nation informed throughout this period. By ensuring that accurate and timely information reached the public, they demonstrated once again the essential responsibility they carry as the fourth estate in supporting our democracy.
As the African proverb reminds us, when there is peace in the village, there is peace in the nation. Your collective efforts helped safeguard that peace.
I congratulate all elected Regional and Local Authority leaders. You have been entrusted with an important responsibility. You now join the 8th Administration in driving our national agenda forward. The nation will evaluate all of us according to the work we do and the results we deliver. I call on you to serve with humility, integrity and a clear commitment to improving the lives of the people who have placed their trust in you.
The 8th Administration remains firmly committed to the full implementation of the National Development Plan Six. NDP6 is our shared roadmap for economic recovery, food security, youth empowerment, industrialisation, better public services and stronger communities. Its success depends on all of us working together.
I call on all Namibians, and everyone living in our country, to play their part in building the Namibia we want. Development is a shared responsibility, and progress is possible when every hand contributes to the same goal.
Our democracy grows stronger when we protect it, nurture it and fully participate in it. Let us remain united, let us remain peaceful, and let us continue strengthening the stability that has guided our nation for decades.
I thank you.
