I’d never heard of Dunaverty Golf Club until recently, but since we were trekking down to the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula for Machrihanish, we added it to the agenda.
It blew me away. Talk about an amazing surprise.
Dunaverty’s 18 holes play across 4800 yards of linksland hard on the coast of the North Channel and in the shadow of the Blood Rock. It’s unique, it’s quirky, it’s accessible, it’s affordable, it’s stunningly beautiful, and best of all, it’s extraordinarily fun to play.
To call Dunaverty a “hidden gem” is to sell it short - it’s so much more. And if you are headed to Machrihanish and don’t play here because it’s not on any lists, you’d be doing yourself a terrible disservice. A wonderful place in the game of golf.
