I’m so proud of my Make More Money students that have been stacking wins in such a short amount of time. Some of last week’s highlights in our Slack #wins channel: 🚀 One member landed their biggest client since May ($30K in one deal). 💡 Another walked away from a $4K repeat client to protect their energy, and felt better than ever after. 🤝 Someone hired and paid their first team members and realized their business is now creating opportunities for others. 💰 Another secured $10K for a single project… a milestone they once thought was impossible. Different numbers. Different stories. But the same pattern: When you commit to growth, your wins multiply. What’s the biggest win you’re chasing right now?

Some birthdays, any cake will do. Other birthdays, you want cake from a specific bakery. Some clients will take any website. Other want a website from a specific agency. Are your prospects coming to you because they want a website, or because they want a website from YOU?

I talk about money a lot here. Heck, my coaching program is even called Make More Money. So what‘s the first lesson I teach? You might be surprised to know that it’s not about pricing, or profitability, or even defining revenue goals. (All of those things are important, but they come later.) The first lesson I teach is called, “Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffett.” It‘s an exploration of the daily schedule of billionaires. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that it’s a very peaceful, tranquil, and relaxed schedule, full of things they want to do and devoid of things they don’t want to do. “Of course it is,” you might think. “You can do whatever you want once you become a billionaire.” Which is probably true. But that’s not how Oprah or Buffett talk about it. They both say that having a clear vision of what they want their days to look like fueled their ambition to make the money that would allow them to live that way. The $1B number didn’t unlock the life. The life was unlocked somewhere along the way. It just so happened that the strategies and skills they put in place continued to compound even after they got the life they wanted. It’s hard to make money without a purpose. Money itself tends to be a flimsy purpose past a certain point. It’s hard to make money with a purpose, but it’s easier than without one. Your purpose makes it worthwhile to do the hard work, and money becomes the yield of the journey. For the first time, I’m releasing all of my training as standalone videos for people who are self-directed learners. Watch it when you want, pause where you need to, come back to it. The goal is to walk away knowing exactly what purpose is driving your ambition to make more money. Want access? Reply or DM “OPRAH” and I’ll message you in 2 weeks when it’s available.

Money is fuel for the life you want to live. Nobody calls a driver greedy for filling up before a long road trip. The question was never, “How much do you want?” It’s always been, “How far are you going?”

This is home for the next few days. I’m 26.3% of the way to my financial goal for the year. But hitting a number was never the point. It’s the freedom to adventure as often as it makes sense for our family. A rich life isn’t something you unlock. It’s something you live on the way there.

You don’t have to post on social media to get clients. There’s a much easier way.

Or maybe it’s because there’s not much to celebrate from an era where millions of people died.
You’ll notice there is no look-back celebration or remembrance of this or virtually any of the other great moral victories from that era. It’s all been memory holed, a will-o'-the-wisp dimming out in the far distance.

“This is what the face of agencies look like.” [group-of-white-men.jpg] “We’re an invite-only, curated, private community of world-class, amazing business owners.” [white-men-around-a-fire.jpg] “The most valuable group I’ve been a part of.” [dinner-table-with-white-men.jpg] White men can be great agency owners. Black men can be great agency owners. Asian men can be great agency owners. Hispanic men can be great agency owners. African men can be great agency owners. Middle Eastern men can be great agency owners. Pacific Islander men can be great agency owners. White women can be great agency owners. Black women can be great agency owners. Asian women can be great agency owners. Hispanic women can be great agency owners. African women can be great agency owners. Middle Eastern women can be great agency owners. Pacific Islander women can be great agency owners. Transgender people can be great agency owners. LGBTQ people can be great agency owners. Young people can be great agency owners. Old people can be great agency owners. Disabled people can be great agency owners. Neurodiverse people can be great agency owners. Being great doesn’t discriminate. So why do the people who organize groups? I couldn’t find many places that looked like the future of agency owners I envisioned. So I built one of my own. If you want to grow your agency to fund the life you want with a group that’s designed to include you, DM me “CREW” and I’ll reach out to see if there’s a fit.

Empty pipeline for June? Check your March pitch volume. Pipeline lags pitching by 3–6 months. What you didn’t do then is showing up now. Wanna be busy in September? Start sending pitches today.

This is the mindset that burns out agency owners. You don’t need to earn the right to have standards. I resolved long ago that I’d rather try and get a bank loan than take on a bad client. And I had my own definition of what a “bad client” is: 🧵
Replying to @danmall
Qualification criteria only works if you have enough leads coming in to actually say no to some most agencies don't have that problem because the pipeline isn't full enough to be selective in the first place

Sometimes, saying “no” to the only client in your pipeline is the best decision you can make for your agency. Sometimes, saying “yes” to the wrong client is more costly than having no clients.

Made some nice assists tonight but shots weren’t falling. Still, I’m proud of staying aggressive and continuing to shoot. I probably went 5 of 30 tonight. I’m no Chet.

The agency owners who stress about work-life balance the most are usually the ones who built a business they secretly don’t like. Fix the business.

Today inside Make More Money, we have a special guest. @Data_Soul runs Figures & Figures, one of the best data visualization agencies in the world. She’s not here because I hired her. She’s here because she’s been a member of this program since day 1 and wanted to give back to the room that helped her build it. That’s what happens: our members are experts that help other members become experts too. If you want to be in a room where that’s the standard, the door is open.

I’m a coach. And I think most people who hire one don’t actually need one. Here’s a simple test: 1️⃣ Will you actually grow your agency without someone holding you accountable? If no, you need a coach. If yes, second question:

Some people who struggle with coaching aren’t wired for it. They need to move at their own pace and go deep on the frameworks privately without the pressure of a live environment.

I’m building a self-paced video system for agency owners who just need the frameworks without the coaching. Comment or DM “BETA” if that’s you and I’ll send you early access when it’s ready.
