Maher Tarabishi is in ICE detention. He was the primary caregiver for his chronically ill son Wael. Wael died yesterday, needlessly, without being able to say goodbye to his father. Is this what we want America to be? Maher Tarabishi should be released now. He should be able to attend his son’s funeral. #FreeMaherTarabishi

Maher Tarabishi, age 62, was taken by ICE last October when he exited his immigration check-in appointment in Texas. He was the primary caregiver for his 30 year old son Wael, who suffers from a chronic muscular condition called Pompe disease. His father provided 24 hour care for many years. Wael died today, his family told me. Wael’s heath had been declining ever since his father’s detention. He never got to say goodbye to his father. Maher will never see his son again. Maher came to the United States in 1994. He is not a criminal. He paid taxes. He raised a family. He was attending his immigration check ins reliably. Now that family is destroyed. For what? If our government has any compassion, Maher Tarabishi should be released from detention now. He should be allowed to attend his son’s funeral. May Wael rest in peace. Is this what America has become? Is this what we want America to be? Spread the word: #FreeMaherTarabishi

Elons grandparents were literal Nazi’s according to his Dad. All these people making excuses for his Heil salute can fuck off.
“They used to support Hitler.” Errol Musk talks about Elon’s maternal grandparents, who were members of the Nazi party in Canada and later moved to South Africa because they supported the Apartheid regime

Hey @virginia_soc is this sign legal in @fairfaxvotes Mt. Vernon location? That statute is about voter intimidation - not “talking” - a poll worker harassed me for asking my partner to clarify a ballot measures language. This clearly violates the 1st Amendment.

I found this tidbit so fascinating 🤨. @Martina who is a TERF/Pushes trans sports bans - hired Trans Tennis Star Dr. Renee Richard’s in the 1982 to help her reclaim her title. So trans athletes were good enough to help her win, but not anymore. upi.com/amp/Archives/1984/06…

It is extremely lucrative to attack gender affirming care for trans youth. It’s a grift like many others - evoke strong feelings of disgust and outrage based on lies and cash in. 3 Masters Degrees and 25 years of work on behalf of Trans people and she makes more than me 🤷🏼‍♀️.

When Hitler rose to power as German chancellor in 1933, he enacted policies to rid the country of Lebensunwertes Leben, or “lives unworthy of living.” His targets included Jews, Roma people, disabled people and communists—but also specifically homosexuals and transsexuals. While many are familiar with haunting images of the first book burnings in Germany, which took place in May of 1933, most aren’t fully aware of their origin story. The books and texts that provided the fuel for that first bonfire came from the library of the Institute for Sexual Research, founded in 1919 by Magnus Hirschfeld, a gay, Jewish doctor. As Scientific American notes, the Institute was “full of life everywhere” and provided incredible and groundbreaking gender affirmation care to trans individuals. Its mission was to provide a center for “research, teaching, healing and refuge” that could “free the individual from physical ailments, psychological afflictions and social deprivation.” In other words, the first book burning in Germany, which led to copycat bonfires around the country, was an attack on a trans care institution. There are echoes of this today: The far-right has specifically chosen to target trans care centers in America, including repeated bomb threats to Boston Children’s Hospital, for providing gender affirming medical care.

I’m not trans but the hostile narrative about trans lives mirrors that experienced by me and other gay men in the 1980s. I struggle to understand those who lived through that era who don’t feel the parallels and the need now to stand with trans people. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

A steadily growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates that "rapid-onset gender dysphoria" claims do not reflect transgender adolescents’ experiences and that “social contagion” is not causing more young people to seek gender-affirming care. trib.al/nSQ70Fq

This is a bonafide scandal. On the legal level, it means the Court decided a case that wasn't a real case or controversy as Art III requires. On the political level, it Man cited in Supreme Court LGBTQ rights case says he was never involved washingtonpost.com/politics/…
