I think @DaveGLambert mentioned about R a couple of years ago. I got my toes wet doing some graphs for ggplot for the ICS last year (it took me ages) and wanted to do more. Learnt loads that will make my life easier and hope to do more!

DeepLearning can impressively outperform (AUC ~0.9) APACHE-II for mortality prediction just on acute physiology alone and best predictions are ones that are deferred for 48-72 hours. doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone…
