Last night I attended an event in Westminster called 'The Lords work in mysterious ways?' which was about House of Lords reform. I thought I’d share some headlines from it.. davidjubb.blog/2024/11/28/oh…

🗣️@J_D_Robertson from @SortitionNow argues that when it comes to an elected Lords, "The public aren’t going to stand for another set of elected politicians to hold the first set to account."

I am actually enjoying how desperate and breathless the advertising is becoming on this website. Sign of a failing business model. If you poison the water hole, people bugger off. In process of migrating to @davidjubb.bsky.social and also @citizensinpower.bsky.social

As a trustee I was so proud of @battersea_arts and @martinlinton who was a key driver of BAC's creation and continued survival. Martin's role was celebrated at BAC's amazing 50th birthday party. So many told him 'BAC is here because of you' - what a legacy! Now it's (y)our turn

Right now the government is working to remove the hereditary Lords, but the people of the UK deserve a second parliamentary chamber that properly reflects the country. If you want to be part of the movement for a House of Citizens, sign the petition now: 858.org.uk/house-of-citizens…

People defending hereditary peers in the House of Lords are characterising their abolition as a choice between the hereditary principle and more life peers appointed by Prime Minister of the day. It’s a false choice. The choice should be between all peers and a House of Citizens
