If Brandon Aiyuk reports to the 49ers facility and they fail his physical, unless they cut him with an injury designation, they still would be liable for his salary because his injury occurred during a game. And I doubt they want to give him another cent.
All he has to do is show up, and he's free.

Aiyuk isn't a victim. I didn't say that. He's not helping himself. But the 49ers aren't blameless, either. They started this in a lot of ways.

Radio host: “One of our shows had Grant Cohn on and he was very adamant that Aiyuk is a victim essentially or the 49ers might be the bad guys here. Since then a lot of people said “maybe we got this wrong in DC”. In my assessment, that’s one media member’s opinion and that’s not kind of the consensus. So I want to know from you, is there a large group of media and fans who feel like he’s been wronged and seen as a victim or is he widely considered lying in a bed that he made?”
Barrows: “I think he’s widely considered to be lying in the bed that he made. Having said that, the relationship is over. There is no reason for him to be on the 49ers roster— reserve/left squad list.”
