I have never forgotten telling man after man in cell after cell how long they would get in prison for the 2011 London riots.
Once enthusiasm for lobbing bins at police has waned, once your pals have been arrested, once the booze & adrenaline subside - you realise.
Then regret.
you may be right @elonmusk - it feels like imminent civil war in London this evening - people from all races and religions sitting in the sun, having picnics, walking dogs, playing frisbee, enjoying the greatest city in the world. Primrose Hill, London.
I was both incredibly nervous but incredibly honoured to be asked on here, and if you’re going to talk about your FEELINGS in public then this is about the loveliest & most supported show to do it on. Thank you for having me, and for those that listened 🏝 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001x4…
Wow @JohnLewisRetail what happened? Your CS was exemplary. Such a shame as this gave you such an advantage. Recent experiences with you have been truly some of the worst
Dear @EastMidRailway this train (Ldn - Sheffield) is disgraceful. Every seat taken, every standing space taken, scores sitting in mid train corridors so I guess 500 people on it and ONLY ONE WORKING TOILET at one end, so people must crawl over each 100s to reach it. It's degrading, like something from the 19th century.
PS and as I walked to the loo, apologising profusely, a number of people asked me to say something publicly about it. One of the reasons for this tweet.
Saw #jezbutterworth new play @HOCThePlay Fight for a ticket…absolutely magnificent. Pitch perfect stellar cast, beautifully directed, magnificent performance from Laura Donnelly (Olivier Award sewn up right there) and the writing is just stunning….theatre at its very best! 👏🔥

Drama should as Toby Jones says be at the centre of political change. I’ve seen dramas about Brexit - even Rupert Murdoch - in recent years where writers have talked about putting ‘both sides of the story.’ Great dramatists are always on the side or right.
Alan Bates turned down an OBE as Paula Vennells, the woman in charge of the Post Office through the Horizon Scandal, retains her CBE and refuses to give it back.
A man of honour 🙏🏼❤️

Alan, 69: “The first thing that sprang to my mind while reading the letter (offering me an OBE) was Paula Vennells still had a CBE. I felt so deeply insulted. She presided over a policy of harassing hundreds of innocent people. It’s not just that the Government hasn’t asked her to return it. What’s even worse is that despite knowing the strength of feeling about it, how people have suffered and some cases died on her watch – she doesn’t feel inclined to give it back.”
Alan accepted a @PrideOfBritain award in 2023.
We were over the moon to give that to him.
Not all heros wear capes 💜

Eurgh leave Carol Vorderman alone. This is an absolute disgrace to watch.
Shame on you all. This is an absolute pile-on of complete rubbish towards one of the most principled people in the public eye.
Carol, we’ve got your back ❤️ @carolvorders
Layton’s drive & dignity, Bobby being such an outward looker at just 20, Johannes’ kind & gentle footprint on Annabel’s life, Ellie’s unfaltering dance prowess… and Vito talking utter cobblers to Claudia, queen of cobblers talk 😍 Thank you #Strictly what a series! 🪩

Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb could sit there for an entire episode just breaking wind, stuffing his face with kebabs and reciting the telephone directory, and still you’d watch, enthralled

The most wonderful and heaven sent relationship I can imagine a show like strictly has ever seen. The perfect partnership at a most crucial time. Impossible not to love everything about them. Special people ❤️
