Love the @bbcproms am not paying to go see @oasis - but worth a reminder that perceptions of elitism are not measured by ticket prices. Comparing Proms tickets with exploitative Ticketmaster pricing to make a point about 'elitist' labels is not the flex people think it is!
What a fantastic interview with @TomFHerring by @hwfmorris - made me pause for thought! I'm really proud of the Rothko Chapel collab between @manc_collective & @SansaraChoir earlier this year
Can't believe @BBCRadio3 have put Norman Lebrecht back on air - he has caused hurt and distress to many people's lives through his blog and has been rewarded with his own programme

Really puzzled why this article is attracting such praise - though especially sloppy is the use of the term ‘administrator’ as a kind of folk-devil/bogeyman. A real lack of industry knowledge on show (the rest is just the usual stuff in The Critic about the wokes)
A brave article that identifies precisely zero real problems facing classical music (or the arts more generally), and makes absolutely no concrete suggestions for fixing any of those problems. But it’s big on hyper-reactionary vibes, so I’m sure it’ll do well.
Me for @TheCriticMag. "We must find the courage to suppress our embarrassment, our nervousness about being labelled “snobs”, and explain why classical music has value, is worth bothering with, and is something anyone can enjoy". thecritic.co.uk/the-love-tha…
It's sort of extraordinary how quickly commentary from a certain cohort of people on ACE has moved from frustration dissatisfaction to embracing calls to dismantle it
This type of article gets published every few months - blandly railing against things not being how they were, offering no meaningful insight into why that might be the case and vaguely suggesting that standing up for classical music 'on its own terms' will fix everything

Anyway lots of classical music folk seemed to have enjoyed the article - for me if you describe an art-form confronting its relationship with (in)equality as 'very edgy' then you deserve to get called out
