Most things don’t need to exist.
That includes most merch.
Objects should earn their place in the world.
If they don’t, they become clutter.
Or worse…branding.
Swag is the sound of a decision being avoided.
It’s what happens when taste is outsourced
and conviction gets rounded down.
Logos talk too much.
Fabric doesn’t speak at all.
It just tells the truth.
You can feel cheapness instantly.
In the weight.
In the seams.
In the way something begs to be worn once
and forgotten forever.
“Good enough” is a design philosophy.
It produces landfill, not culture.
Scarcity isn’t marketing.
It’s respect.
For the object.
For the person wearing it.
For the moment it represents.
If everyone gets one,
it meant nothing.
Real things create friction.
They feel opinionated.
They exclude by default.
That’s why they last.
A logo on a bad blank
is still a bad object.
No amount of story can fix it.
No amount of copy can save it.
Digital brands love to explain themselves.
Physical objects don’t care.
They either work
or they don’t.
There is no pivot
for bad cotton.
Merch is not communication.
It’s evidence.
Evidence of standards.
Evidence of restraint.
Evidence of whether someone cared
past the spreadsheet.
The future will belong to objects
that feel intentional.
Heavy.
Specific.
A little uncomfortable.
Everything else will be given away
in tote bags
and quietly disappear.

Yesterday, Paxos, one of the most trusted and compliant players in the space, accidentally minted $300 trillion PYUSD. The total supply onchain was greater than the world’s GDP.
It was a single administrative error that exposed how easily one anomaly can affect DeFi core systems including stablecoin issuance, collateral ratios, oracles, and liquidation logic across the ecosystem.
