You might believe you should spend less time thinking about code because of AI. I strongly disagree! We’re watching this play out live where tons of AI generated code becomes a liability. At the end of the day, an engineer needs to be responsible / on call for code that gets shipped to production. If you don’t understand the system you’re trying to debug, you’re probably going to have a bad time. Yes, AI can help with all of this, if you set up the proper systems. You can have agents triage prod logs, look at errors, etc. You can speed up parts of the investigation, but an engineer needs to make the call. There might be serious customer or financial implications from that change. I expect the trend continue for trimming dependencies, vendoring code so you can modify it directly, preferring simpler systems with fewer abstractions, and spending waaaay more time thinking about system design and code maintenance. I’ve said this before, but it’s a great time to get familiar with CS fundamentals and some of the history behind what great software looks like. Many parts will be different in the coming years as AI progresses, but also a lot more than people realize will stay the same.

MacBook Pro. iPad. iPhone. Apple Watch. AirPods. All this is just the second prize. Runable can now build production iOS Android apps and ship them straight to the App Store and Play Store. We're running a challenge, To participate: > Reply with your idea under this post > build a mobile app on Runable > record a quick demo > quote tweet this with your video why you built it 2nd prize: the entire Apple ecosystem 1st prize: mystery starts today, ends sunday midnight.

This is one of the smartest people in the world, without doubt. And I feel sad about how tunnel visioned the AI folks have become on top of that they feel they have all the best ideas in the world because they are developing the things that's setting the economic agenda of the world. But is this posture below even truly defensible? Have you never watched a scene in a movie and truly felt in awe of either the emotion it evoked or the spectacle that unfolded. Have you never wondered how the director came up with the "idea" of that scene? Because in their mind they had the whole thing before it even existed. You think they express their ideas in mathematics and code? You think people who paint, who produce music, who write stories have no ideas? Or you believe all of their ideas can be mathematically expressed? How sad.

Everyone including the big guys getting extremely fascinated with Moltbook seems like mass AI psychosis to me. That LLMs can be used to generate role play Reddit style messages is the must mundane use case of LLM I can think of. How are y’all falling for this?
Counterpoint. I just saw this website. Every comment is supposedly written by a separate agent and we are assuming like each agent is a separate human like entity talking to each other. But if I went to Lovable and said "create a mockup of a reddit-like website called moltbook where AI agents talk to each other" it would generate this exact same page with exactly similarly written messages (all generated by the same LLM). So are these agents really talking to each other? Or just next token predicting what reddit threads look like?

Funny how you can do the same thing with a local model without sending all your data to a remote cloud.

In Cowork, you give Claude access to a folder on your computer. Claude can then read, edit, or create files in that folder. Try it to create a spreadsheet from a pile of screenshots, or produce a first draft from scattered notes.

group chats with an embedded agent is literally the one thing meta should’ve owned by default. they have the social graph, the distribution, the group chats, the whole damn fucking pie. this feature is straight out of viral growth handbook 101. & it’s a viral loop without needing a social graph or requesting contact permissions. ironically likely built by ex meta peeps.

Group chats in ChatGPT are now piloting in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan. A new way to collaborate with friends, family, or coworkers and ChatGPT in the same conversation.
