Second Place?! Our trash talking chef may not be the standard use case for advanced robotic technology but the fact is we couldn't have done it without the SO-ARM100 by @therobotstudio and the @huggingface @LeRobotHF library by @RemiCadene Let's Go!

I don't want to say "I told you so", but I told you so. Repeatedly. I was heavily criticized for it. Mocked, even.
People have been rewriting history and saying that "everyone has always believed that LLMs alone wouldn't be AGI and that extensive scaffolding around them would be necessary". No, throughout most of 2023 (the "sparks of AGI" era) the mainstream bay area belief was that LLMs were *already* AGI, and that merely scaling their parameter count and training data size by ~2 OOM without changing anything else would lead to super-intelligence.

Excellent thread about weird lobbying efforts that paint open source AI foundation models as anti-competitive (somehow!). @LauraEdelson2 is a Prof at Northeastern and the former Chief Technologist of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. She knows what she's talking about. Open foundation models are enabling the creation of an entire ecosystem of AI startups, non-profit projects, and research efforts. How could *anyone* see this as anti-competitive? What's their agenda?
I'm so tired of being in rooms where people whisper about the absolute ARMY of Big Tech-funded people (most, but not all, ex-Googlers) that have popped up in nearly every corridor in DC where people are working on literally anything to do with AI. So let's talk about it! 1/12
