ICYMI: The latest DroidCam Client (v 7.2.1), now available on the droidcam.app website, adds initial support for Windows on Arm (arm64) systems - like Surface laptops - along with various fixes & an updated core. Be sure to update if you haven't yet.

Your phone likely supports a variety of options. Use the 'Camera Probe' / 'Camera Information' link in the DroidCam app Settings to get a list of supported sizes on the phone.
For example you could go for a 4:3 resolution such as 1920x1440 for some extra vertical room.

This has been resolved. A new DroidCam Client update (v7.1.0) is rolling out to existing users and is available on the website for new users.

⚠️The latest Windows 11 update 24H2 is rolling out, and it's highly recommended you defer this update for now, as there are known issues with the DroidCam client. You can pause updates for 4-5 weeks until things are resolved.

Heads up, the DroidCam plugin needs to be updated to work with OBS Studio 30.2 due to upgraded FFMpeg.
Pre-release of v2.3.3 is available on Github

Heads up iOS users ℹ️
If you have iOS 17, and the Permissions for DroidCam disappear; just re-install the app from the App Store to get Permissions restored. This will be addressed in the next update.

So, @dev47apps doing the 4k upgrade to their Droidcam app/plugin is fucking fantastic. Ran it on stream tonight, everyone said it looked CRISP.
4k camera capability without spending hundreds of dollars. Customization and easy setup. If you aren't using it, you're wrong.

Things I've learned today:
1. Cell phone with Droidcam OBS by @dev47apps is the easiest way to set up a quality webcam. Plug and play webcams are second and DLSR/Mirrorless are the hardest.
2. Canon's webcam software is a SUPER resource hog.
3. There is a mini AND micro HDMI🤦
