CHILDREN’S DAY: GOVERNOR MUTFWANG CELEBRATES PLATEAU AND NIGERIAN CHILDREN, PROMISES QUALITY EDUCATION, BRIGHT FUTURE, AND STRONG MORAL VALUES
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating children in Plateau State and across the country on the joyous occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Governor Mutfwang described children as the greatest treasure of every society and the foundation upon which a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive future is built.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing bright minds, building promising futures, and providing sound, quality, and affordable education capable of preparing children for global competitiveness in an ever-evolving world.
The Governor emphasized that no child in Plateau State should be denied access to education, stressing that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and realize his or her full potential. He noted that his administration remains committed to promoting inclusive and quality education, while intensifying efforts to combat school dropout, bullying, child labour, child trafficking, and all forms of abuse that threaten the future, dignity, and wellbeing of children.
Governor Mutfwang further assured that the Child Rights Act, as domesticated in Plateau State, remains a critical framework for safeguarding the rights, welfare, dignity, and protection of every child. According to him, the law also serves as a moral guide for building a peaceful, healthy, disciplined, and value-driven society.
He stated that his administration will continue to invest strategically in the education sector through improved learning infrastructure, teacher development, digital innovation, expanded access to quality education, and policies designed to promote the intellectual, moral, and social development of children across the state.
The Governor stressed that beyond academic excellence, children must also be nurtured with enduring moral values, discipline, integrity, compassion, patriotism, and the fear of God in accordance with the true teachings of faith and universally accepted principles that promote responsible living, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Mutfwang encouraged parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to continue working together in shaping the character and future of children, noting that the destiny of every society depends largely on how well it nurtures and prepares its younger generation.
He further assured Plateau children that his administration will continue to create opportunities and provide an enabling environment where every child, irrespective of background, can dream, learn, grow, and achieve his or her God-given potential.
On behalf of the Government and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang congratulated all children on the occasion of Children’s Day and prayed for God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, and abundant blessings upon them as they grow into responsible leaders and worthy ambassadors of Plateau State and Nigeria.
