Local FB community groups are amazing. Post: new upscale supermarket coming to a space inside of a strip mall that used to house a Christmas Tree Shop for over a decade. First comment (middle-aged white woman): “great, more traffic.” Me:

About 13-15 years ago, my sales team won a deal to procure and deploy thousands of iPads to a large corp client. Client said they didn’t want the USB to lightning adapter as part of the kitting. So I took home dozens of these for personal use and never had to buy one.
The horrors you see when you recycle ewaste. from a load of monitors that I’m taking for a business that is upgrading. Nothing wrong with them just big corporations wanting new stuff. But these are all the brand new cables that came with the new monitors that they didn’t want 1/2

Likewise, growing up, I thought every school district in the nation had the day off of school on Yom Kippur.
growing up on long island i was shocked that kennedy was the only catholic president. i fully thought catholicism was the most common denomination of christianity in the US

If you know the historical context behind this, you would be laughing hysterically like I am to this lol

This summer's AC wars have taught us that Europe: 1. Believes insulation only works for winter 2. Has no concept of thermal mass 3. Believes air conditioning and fans will make them sick 4. Doesn't own power tools 5. Thinks it's ok for grown men to complain for "small talk"

My friends/colleagues: “why don’t you take the train into the city? It is so much easier!” Me: “So I don’t have to deal with this crap every summer, among many other things.”
A scene from the New York Penn Station fire that erupted overnight. More tk later today. But wow… can’t help but wonder if it’s a matter of when, not if, something will happen during World Cup.

I’m sorry, but I can no longer follow this shit stain any longer. Guy is a fucking robot who can’t even acknowledge the passing of one of the teams most beloved players but can talk about analytics and mock trades all day long. Good riddance.

I still find it astonishing how Hanoi Jane is still embraced by the left and it’s literally not an issue for any of them.
Angelenos need leaders willing to stand up and speak out. Jane has never been afraid to do either

Possibly hot take: the iPod Touch was the worst of all iPod models.
7 years ago today, the final iPod was released.

This is what recent transplants to NYC refer to as the “real” NYC and lament it’s not reality today.

When you are shitting fire because you bought a $3 hot dog from an unlicensed food vendor on the street you may start to change your view on this matter.

No region of the country is as Indian as the Bay Area, and no city in the Bay Area is as Indian as Fremont. Here, visitors crowd into Hindu temples to pray to Ganesha and other gods. Some public schools teach Hindi and the thwacks of cricket bats on balls ricochet across the biggest park. Inside the city’s many strip malls, Hyderabadi and Maharashtrian food are devoured by homesick immigrants. Women in saris pop in and out of groceries that sell spices and samosas, dal and ghee. The mayor of this Silicon Valley bedroom community of 227,000 is himself an immigrant from Punjab. Its voters helped send an Indian American — Rep. Ro Khanna — to Congress. Just a few decades ago, Fremont was as white as any other middle-class East Bay suburb. Today, 30% of residents are of Indian ancestry, the highest share of any city in the Bay Area. Silicon Valley’s hunger for talent, India’s deep bench of tech workers and the immigration liberalization of the 1990s reshaped Fremont — and much of the Bay Area with it. Similar transformations have unfolded in Dublin and Danville, Livermore and Albany. From 2010 to 2024, Indian Americans and immigrants from India were the fastest-growing ethnic group in a region that now has a larger share of Indians than anywhere else in the country. So far, the story of this community — whose members are diverse, with varied languages and religions — has been one of rapid success. But that trajectory is now at risk. The engine that powered its rise is threatened as President Donald Trump attacks H-1B visas and paths to citizenship. The anti-immigrant backlash has descended into hate at times against H-1B holders, and Indians specifically, prompting some in the community to consider leaving the U.S. and deterring others from coming here at all.

Given that the boomer title is given by Zoomers for anyone over the age of 25-30, I do not recall at any time people eating fast food every day in the 90’s. They’re just making shit up now because they have been outed as being helpless.
Boomers seem to forget that fast food used to be a normal, everyday expense for them because it was affordable. You could get a burger easily on minimum wage, it wasn’t some fancy treat you had once a year as a reward for pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.
