NEW PAPER OUT!
Assessing drivers of leaf endophyte diversity and composition across a broad geographic and phylogenetic scale, we found that:
-assembly patterns differed between bacterial and fungal endophytes; (1/3)
-bacterial communities were more similar in more closely related host taxa while fungal communities were more similar in geographically closer hosts; and (2/3)
-fungal diversity was significantly influenced by aridity and precipitation while bacterial diversity was consistent across host taxa and environmental variables measured. (3/3)
βοΈPaper alert: Global assessment of diversity, endemism, threat & conservation of island plants π΄ποΈ
Key result: 31% of spp native / 21% endemic to islands, island endemics disproportionately threatened by extinction, islands insufficiently protected π§΅/1

The life strategies of #parasitoids are stunningly diverse, but no wasps that attack and develop inside adult flies have ever been described. Our article describes the first one. Its hosts: Drosophila melanogaster and other species of #Drosophila#Entomology#Braconidae
Great job from the students today at the MSU Undergraduate Research Showcase! Pictured: Sarah Demus, Bella Brownlee (herbarium mural project), and Hawinet Adugna (pollen metabarcoding).
