More good news for active travel in East Lothian. Work progressing on another privately-funded cycling/footpath in Gullane. Connecting residential development at Saltcoats field - via community Millennium Wood - to Memorial Park.👏
Making connections. A new cycle/walking path in Gullane funded by @CALAHOMES has been given the green light by East Lothian Council. 👏eastlothiancourier.com/news/…
Great news! @CALAHOMES planning application to retain the upgraded tarmac path on the Saltcoats core path has been approved by @ELCouncil.
Since its upgrade, the core path has become a popular and well-used route for walking and cycling by local residents and visitors.
This upgraded historic core path is already a valued path for Gullane locals.
@CALAHOMES has applied to retain it permanently after heavy use by walkers, cyclists & families.
Let's keep this community asset. Please retweet. Link to comment: pa.eastlothian.gov.uk/online…
Cold and frosty start to the day with a walk along the @CALAHOMES-funded path to the Mill Burn, near West Fenton. Stopped to take in this beautiful sunrise.
A fantastic initiative led by East Lothian Climate Hub.
Get involved planting 500m of hedgerow at Ballencrieff Farm.

No experience needed—just enthusiasm.
Cyclists stopping off at Deli Gallo in Gullane — proof that active travel is good for business!
Good for health, good for business, more local spending. 💚 💪
NEWS 📢
Key landowner — Fenton Barns, the family-run farm & retail village — has backed the Drem–Gullane path.
This is significant: they control a key stretch of the proposed route between the two villages.

NEWS 📣 People power works! 💪
Following sustained pressure from our group MSPs & MP, @ELCouncil has agreed to engage with a key landowner to establish his current position on assembling the land required to build the path.
Thanks @elcourier!
Creating safer routes supports sustainable tourism and active travel.
That’s why Archerfield Estates Ltd, one of East Lothian’s flagship visitor destinations, backs the call for a safe Drem @ScotRail-Gullane link.🚴🚶

20 years on and we’re still pushing—stronger than ever—for a safe route between Gullane and Drem @ScotRail.
For kids. For families. For commuters. For everyone.
2025: Drem villagers demand slower traffic.
2022: @ELCouncil & @WWCTrustScot put cars before people walking and cycling.
We called this out in 2022—@CyclingUKScot agreed: vehicles over people was the wrong choice.

NEWS: 📢🚨Residents of Drem have handed a petition to @ELCouncil calling for urgent action on speeding.
In recent weeks, a van demolished the village’s pedestrian island.
Safety must come first— @norriehamp must act now to slow traffic before tragedy strikes.
We wrote to @WWCTrustScot on 4 Sept: help us get @ELCouncil to engage the Drem landowner on a safe route. Silence since.
Is this how a charity for walking & cycling delivers its mission?
