Having been the subject of a Christian community pile-on a few times :), I can hardly watch it even if I agree with the criticism. The pounding takes a heavy toll. Of course, that’s why we do it and God knows some of us need calling out. And perhaps all of us occasionally but then there’s the constant piling on. We pick a person then pick them constantly apart. I know. I’m a bleeding heart and I also know I’ve done this to people. I’ve very seldom been glad. Well, maybe a few times I was glad. I’m just saying, let us always know when we do it over and over to the same person that she or he is an actual person. And that no one can bear up well under unrelenting scrutiny. We’ve all said stupid stuff. If someone was tracking down your every word, they’d have a lot to post on you, too. Spoken like an old woman. Lol. I’m pretty hearty but I’m telling you the truth here: I’ll carry some of the scars from public stonings to my grave. I’ll think I’ve recovered and I’m no worse for the wear than I’ll watch it happen to someone else and I can feel the heat on my neck and I start breathing fast.
