“People Person” ft Slug of @atmosphere will forever be one of the records I’m most proud of. It’s also the most streamed record off “Much Given, Much Tested” on all platforms. This all started as a “what if?” Previously I had the privilege of being on Atmosphere’s album “Word?” on a song called “Pressed” which was a crazy posse cut. This time it was just going to be us. @dubsonata came with a crazy beat and Slug not only knocked it out the park, he even came with a lil intro part to his verse to make this all the more epic. Now that’s generosity. The first person to hear this song was Heed by the way, in the parking lot of the nursing home she was having rehab at after a fall. Fast forward to a flight home from NYC. I had free WiFi and decided to shoot the ultimate shot: A video. Slug is always busy, especially on tour where rest and maintaining his voice are of the utmost importance. Still, he agreed to shoot with us at their tour stop at @thenorva and @zoodeville did us the honor of coming with a treatment and stepping behind the lens. This was of those days where nothing seems real. @bigbandomane @distantdee and I walked into The Norva that afternoon on the hunt for Slug, as unimpeded as expected. We found @_iamjose1 at a pool table then I got the text to come back outside. I heard what sounded like my voice playing around the corner and there they were. We talked for like a minute, then got straight to it. I had a lot of fun with this one and I think the video shows, we even got kicked out a parking lot. Then after all this, Slug, @antturnthatsnaredown and @heblmusic went and rocked a crowd of like 1000 because that’s just the @rhymesayers way Before that @zoodeville killed with @nofunla too. For me it was another reminder: Your dreams can’t come true if you don’t have any and your wishes won’t either if you aren’t willing to put yourself out there and work. That said, the words “thank you” don’t even begin to scrape the surface of my gratitude. #hiphop #atmosphere #rhymesayers #behindthescenes #thenorva

I love incorporating reality into our ideas! I found this footage in my phone today. It’s from when we shot the video for “Me Too.” We went down to #Carytown and set up the shot right there on the sidewalk, with really only a general idea of what we were going for. But most times that’s really all it takes. You get out there, you figure it out, and let it guide you. This is the story of how my mother got on the Tupac song “Me and My Girlfriend” this is the ORIGINAL. “X” pages are stealing my content but this is mine & I have proof. Also for those wondering why I’m dancing it’s because I knew it’d get people’s attention duuuh.

A lil something to lighten the mood! I wrote and recorded my part of “People Person between visits to see my mom in the nursing home. It seemed like Heed was never going to get out, and I had no idea what I was going to do or how I would care for her when she did. Still, there was work to do. I told @dubsonata (and myself) that if we were gonna try to get my brother Slug from @atmosphere on a song, I’d want it to be something fun, or as we say “FAT.” Not that heavy stuff I’m always writing and thinking about. Slug is a person that always makes me smile. He knows plenty about what happens between life and the living. Our hangouts and discussions have had such a positive impact on me as well as my art. Listen to “Take Your Time” or most recently “The Ride” which is on “Much Given, Much Tested.” His influence is in there. Life is hard and it’s ugly, often it’s up to us to find reasons to smile. I’ve seen so much negative stuff on here today. The war(s), rap beef, this heat wave, ICE, it almost put me in a negative space. Then I came across this video in my phone and it made me smile.
