New Headteacher. Still listening, still watching, still learning and still spending as much time as possible with the children (it’s still the best bit).
The conference of the European Association for Practitioner Research on Improving Learning (EAPRIL) is a great opportunity for all teachers/teacher educators to exchange on practice-based research on learning issues with colleagues from all over the world. Highly recommended!
An absolute pleasure to talk to the @CornwallMarjon MA Students last night about the dissertation process and how I found it, many thanks to @UniEducator for the opportunity.
In year 4 this week, we have been writing some fantastic stories. Here are just a few extracts from children's work competed at home and in school. @PaulGarvey4
The best window into our own practice and that of others. A fantastic opportunity for @TeachFirst trainees to reflect and grow. Great news @Vesna_IRISC!
Trewirgie!! Is it really 8 years since I was privileged to inspect this wonderful Junior school? Amazing how time flies and judging by this video it's just as good a school and better! No wonder if these two are still in charge!! Jane: I salute you! 👍
How lovely to see children enjoying a Maths Challenge Day, the result of training from @FranMaths and @Buffetlearner back in June. Do let us know about YOUR Challenge Day!
Very disturbing news about the rise in child mental health referrals. You don't have to work in education to realise that high stakes assessments that underpin the English education system have a key role to play in this. There is another way! bbc.co.uk/news/health-457485…
I'm no teacher, but my role at @tes has seen me appear in front of classes many times over the years: am always surprised by how knackering it is.

We have a flawed KS1-2 progress measure that involves nominal scores to accommodate those that don’t take the test and score caps to mitigate the issues resulting mainly from the nominal scores. When it’s bodged this much you have to wonder if it’s worth it.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first Maths Challenge Day this week! It was a pleasure to work with a great bunch of children who certainly showed resilience, perseverance & a willingness to have a go at everything! @Buffetlearner @CODEMathsHub@FranMaths
Such a busy, hot day @CODEMathsHub yesterday! All our Local Leaders and Subject Leaders left feeling inspired after workshops with Chris Gould and @NJLury 😎
It's wonderful to have Year 5 children from schools across @westcountryST coming together to problem solve, reason, investigate, explore & persevere for our Maths Challenge Day. A great morning so far! @dunstone_school@OrestonAcademy @Buffetlearner @CODEMathsHub@FranMaths
