100 years ago - America decided to bestow voting rights upon half the citizenry. And it took until tonight for that to ripple through to the highest office in the land. 100 years. Damn ... it took WAY too long - but, ladies... We finally made it.

Shared with me through Audrey Watters - Second Breakfast post - theconvivialsociety.substack… - I've read it three times in the past week. I think we are going to need more reminders about attention, disenchantment as the days go on.
I am so excited to announce the book tour for BY THE FIRE WE CARRY! I am so happy I am well enough to travel. I am still dealing with photophobia, so the events will have low "mood" lighting, lol, but I can't wait to connect irl again! I’ll also have virtual events!

This is the work. And it is work at all levels of this process... For the student, the advisor, the admin, the mentors, the parents. But this is definitely the work worth doing.
A4: There's a scene in Whale Rider, which I taught forever ago to MS's, that nearly shocked the room into silence. They could feel the injustice and pain of it all. That is both tough to put them in front of and to use as a teachable moment that is more than just pain. #sschat
A4: There are no shortcuts, it isn't a stand alone lesson, it is a way of being in the world. That takes time, commitment, follow through and follow up. Helping kids to see each other through a lens of respect as complex, diverse, varied humans is tough. #sschat
A3 - I am not in the classroom, but this question still occupies my mind as I see my former students grappling with the struggle on the socials. Hate is so pervasive and destructive. #sschat
A2 - This resource - while a little dated, has some nice lenses and approaches to the work that I think can be incredibly useful learningforjustice.org/sites…#sschat
