I got terrible A levels and graduated with a 1st. I don’t understand the logic of this argument. I’m sure my case is typical - I was bright but didn’t go to the best schools and had challenges at home. I went to uni and seriously buckled down and I did well. No mystery

I predict the government will browbeat the health unions into real terms pay cuts, albeit with a tempting taxable cash lump sum for this year. However, I doubt it will do anything to address the 150 thousand vacancies in the NHS and the exodus of talented health workers abroad.

Is it possible that hospital secs could take a message and add the patient to the 'expedite' list for a consultant to review rather than send them back to the GP for another appt and letter! Would increase GP capacity and help everyone!

I feel sorry for the patients who end up in my surgery seeking info about results, referrals and waiting lists. The sooner the IT allows patients to track their own pathways and everything is copied to them the better
