you could replace “Backrooms” with “The Sopranos” in this tweet and nothing would change lol
How much of Backrooms’ compelling atmosphere is the anxiety of growing up in an empire past its peak? I don’t know, but the movie felt familiar. For context, a building I worked in for two years:

the Mixtape thing already feels like mass psychosis. how were gamers’ emotions so easily manipulated that thousands of them became IRATE over one random game out of the ten thousand that will come out this year getting good reviews. peasants during the crusades type shit

who decided “yeah we should give all gaming PCs the shittiest looking flashing LEDs in the world. no you can’t turn it off except by opening your BIOS app which only works twenty percent of the time”

the downstream effects of one IGN reviewer giving Alien Isolation a 5.9 are truly insane to witness

Fukuyama was talking about resident evil fans
Is resident evil the most divided community out there? Is there anything we agree on?

people are complaining that AI robots in movies are now “dumber” than real life LLMs. clearly we need a movie with an AI robot that endlessly hypes up the villain’s evil schemes while just making shit up left and right

One of the most underrated parts of project hail mary was at the end when that phenomenal last musical cue on the daniel pemberton score went directly into Glory Glory by tina turner

name one major breakthrough that AI has discovered on its own. Just one
If AI can now solve math, discover physics and chemistry breakthroughs faster than human PhDs, why are we still training humans to be physicists? Serious question. Should education shift from 'learn to do X' to 'learn to direct AI doing X'? The wrong direction costs a generation their careers.

it’s not the nuclear waste itself, it’s that a nuclear power plant requires our society to stay in its modern, technologically advanced state, with competent scientists and political leaders at the wheel, forever. remember when trump fired all the nuclear scientists? yeah.
This argument against nuclear is "Hypothetically in some distant future where society for some reason can't understand why this resource shouldn't be opened, it COULD cause catastrophe" while coal & fossil fuels actively destroys the world with a 100% climate catastrophe rate

That’s the real risk. nuclear plants require tons of pro-science funding and constant attention, you can’t just turn it off and walk away. you’re betting your life that 100 years from now, there won’t have been a societal/economic collapse of any kind, or they fired everyone etc

Is it worth it? yeah, probably. but people who dismiss the risk of nuclear energy fucking terrify me

not to be that guy but since we’re doing this (sigh) watch the scene where delta slim is talking about his friend who got lynched, but focus on stack and preacherboy’s faces. stack brings his memories of WWI wherever he goes, it’s an incredible but subtle- why am I even bothering
Mira que a mĂ me gustĂł Sinners. Pero no hay ningĂşn momento, ni uno solo, donde Michael B Jordan tenga una actuaciĂłn similar a esta. Pero ni un poquito Lo de DiCaprio es antolĂłgico

hey there were two really good movies! let’s make them fight since what we really want to be doing is arguing about professional athletes except we “don’t like sports”

Paul Kinsey in mad men:
Can someone explain why everyone moves to Brooklyn but nobody moves to Jersey City or Union City even though it's like 50% cheaper for the same distance to Manhattan?

“a story doesn’t have to be 100% accurate in order to be true” is something our media literacy bereft society can’t comprehend same people who complain that the social network wasn’t a documentary despite its screenplay being far more true in terms of the monster facebook became
This didn’t happen. But the actor read it had, apparently on the Wikipedia page for his character, and when he brought it up Nolan slipped it in the scene. It’s this attention to detail that makes him our middest living filmmaker.
