Had my first failed and reverted commit today.
1 Week and 4 days into becoming a Software Engineer! π±
But it turned out that it wasnt my fault.. as we use SVN instead of Git meaning my commit got merged with someone elses.
It provided good practice in handling a failed commit.
Finished my First Week as a Backend Developer and its been a Journey!
I don't actually feel like i've done very much actual work.. its been entirely taken up with the induction process, introductions, team meetings and a face to face fully expensed night out on Friday! π₯³
End of Day 3 ... FE team got upset π
So i had to implement the small FE change to account for the new API endpoint myself. ( change from int user ID's to GUID's )
this was also the first time i touched angular..
does that mean i'm now a full stack dev ? π€·πΏββοΈ
Today I had a mandatory about the financial industry that I had to sit.. I studied over the weekend and passed it! But unfortunately doing-so meant I broke my codecademy streak π’
Ah well. Lets see what tomorrow brings. i'm ready πͺπΏ
#dotnetcore 6.0 installed and ready to do work on my Linux OS
Im really going to have to spin up a windows VM on my fileserver with Visual Studio 2022 to avoid pulling my hair out with this dev environment... π
OK, I've added all my dotnet stuff to the system PATH so i can run the dotnet CLI just like any other command, and im ready to create a new project in VScode after work!
I'm really happy at how this is all coming together ππΏππΏ

Day 2 .... made my first commit!!
Had to rewrite an API that was exposing internal methods to the FE and have it run them through a stable router instead that will allow us to change them however and whenever we please without upsetting the FE teams! π₯³

Enjoyed speaking for the first time on a Twitter Space. I went in there just to listen, but as the conversation built up and hearing some of the bullshit that people get told about tech I felt compelled to speak.
Hope my contribution helped somebody tonight

The C# Generic " Func<TResult> " is very prominent in the codebase i am dealing with at work.
This video really helped me get my head around the concept of using it
