as if they think the true picture would be revealed if we take them away from kids. I can’t see how that fits with how we would usually see disability and accommodations outside of reading / school. I’m trying to wrap my head around this.

A question @haemesmer : on a podcast, I heard you talk about orthographic mapping as if having a word read to you would be more like memorizing and sounding it out would be orthographic mapping. Is the difference that sharp (assuming child has alphabetic principle)?
