Day 1 of #ECN2024 has begun!
Thank you @entcollnet for having us, we are so excited to sponsor and learn about how we can serve the entomological collections community!
And I shouldn't forget my latest paper was published yesterday. It was a pleasure working with @erincpow and Dug Miller on this new scale insects from the US.

🇬🇧Common glow-worm, Lampyris noctiluca. When the larva moved, I discovered a kind of „adhesive foot“ on the back part of the abdomen. This can be extended as needed. This allows the larva to push itself forwards when moving.

🇬🇧Common glow-worm, Lampyris noctiluca. Here you can see the larva of this firefly. It can also glow on the abdomen. The female looks very similar to this larval form and has no wings. The males, on the other hand, are more similar to the typical beetle. Date found: Oct. 5, 2024
Funddatum: 5. Okt. 2024

Museum collections are invaluable for many reasons. But if nobody knows they exist, their utility is diminished. This is why digitizing is essential. We would love to hear what biodiversity collections mean to you! Tell us by filling out this form:

Hello everyone,
I am delighted to finally make my firefly database: lampyridae.world available for everyone to use. I thought it was quite fitting to go live the day before World Firefly Day.
