We definitely weren't thinking of the consequences. IIRC 1st time I saw him, the model was done and in the game. I named him Hans in an attempt to make him more relatable. His 'outfit' has a bit of a Lederhosen look - if you squint, a lot. Better to close your eyes and look away.
