Dear general public - sorry we (GPs/primary care/NHS) can’t offer service you would like or need - we are working at 120% & demand outstripping supply - every practice is short staffed & under funded. New IT/phone lines might help a bit. But unescapable fact just not enough GPs

I spoke with two GP practices in Sheffield for this but it could have been anywhere and the message would have been the same. I speak to many GPs every week all over the country and this is the reality. V sick patients, demand through the roof, 12h days, exhausted staff.

10k patients at this Cosham practice will be getting letters like these today. Local Cllrs, Healthwatch and I are concerned at this decision and the short notice. I’m worried about continuity of care and the impact on other GP surgeries.
