We move in 'loops' & the loops aren't quite so easily understood (but they are also less misleading). The loop below is the sort of thing (very rough) that we get with a vertical jump. As you know, the loop involves a SSC which potentiates the concentric forces. But... 1/n

Hi Johan. Respectfully, I think the big issue is why do we think about this curve at all. We don't move along this curve (it should be depicted as non-continuous. eg a series of dots) and 2 often ppl ignore the fact that this is an artefact of isokinetic dynamometry. 1/n

One for the glute activation enthusiasts. What happens to glute max activity during heavy squats (~5RM)? Eccentric phase, GMAX barely turns on! and is far lower than what the model requires to produce sufficient muscle force and hip joint extension torque.
