Next week, I'll be celebrating the 250th of Wealth of Nations at @AdamSmithHouse in Edinburgh, speaking about AI x institutional discovery I'm joined by @sebkrier @DrSamuelGregg @s8mb @danwilliamsphil @drperszyk. If you're here & thinking about AI human autonomy, let's meet!
This June in Edinburgh, Panmure House convenes the New Enlightenment Conference to mark 250 years of Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations. Leaders from business, policy & academia will convene for rigorous, non‑partisan dialogue on ideas shaping modern economies and societies. While the Conference is primarily invitation‑led, a limited number of places are being made available to individuals whose experience and perspectives align with the Conference themes and wish to contribute to the dialogue.

AI is reasonably good at producing answers… but less good at helping US ask better questions. This is an encouraging step in that direction - well done Dara!
Everyone thinks the internet has an information problem. I think it has an expertise problem. 🧵

What if we measured AI not by how smart it is, but by how much smarter it makes us? In the final episode of Season 1 of Making a Mind, I talk with MIT Media Lab’s Dr. Pat Pataranutaporn to discuss how we can design AI for human flourishing. youtube.com/watch?v=vZIl_KlN…

Last week, the AI discourse split in two. One version dominated the headlines. The other was harder to see, but no less important.

Before an AI agent can solve complex problems, it has to learn how to reason. On episode 6 of “Making a Mind,” Amazon AI researcher Meiqi Sun and I discuss how agents can shift from simple execution to ambiguous, multi-step tasks. youtube.com/watch?v=Unq61A4L…

I really enjoyed this conversation with @davideagleman ! We talk about what makes human intelligence distinctive and why AI agents will need to not only reason about other minds, but also care about aligning them - an evolutionary optimization I call the "communicative drive."
Is intelligence fundamentally a social issue? Why do infants make models of other minds? And how does this steer how we might build AI agents? Join me this week with cognitive scientist Danielle Perszyk (@drperszyk) from Amazon AGI labs. eagleman.com/podcast/139

I'm looking forward to continuing to share more of these insightful conversations with anyone and everyone who is curious about the science of intelligence!  amzn.to/makingamind
Cognitive scientist at Amazon’s AGI Lab, @drperszyk from Amazon's AGI Lab explores the science of intelligence in "Making a Mind," a podcast featuring leading AI researchers. Episodes 1 & 2 are now live —listen in to hear from two members of the AGI Lab technical staff, product lead, Kelsey Szot and engineer @jasonlaster11, to learn more about the evolution from LLMs to modern agents and why developing high quality training environments is as fundamental as the model itself: amzn.to/makingamind

Thanks for the great conversation @IKrietzberg! I'm so excited by the possibilities of bringing this vision of AI agents to life, and loved getting to talk through the implications of what this tech could mean for us as a society.
I connected with Dr. Danielle Perszyk, a cognitive scientist at @amazon’s AGI Labs, to hear about the work the lab is doing, and how it aims to achieve its mission of AGI @PuckNews puck.news/amazons-ai-lab-is-…

Human cooperation requires that we establish common ground in the physical world. Similarly, for agents to be useful, they need common ground with us in the digital world. We’re teaching agents to perceive UIs just like we do to build a foundation for human-agent cooperation.
