Question of the day. Are $0.33 per lb US 2026 crop prices in North Dakota enough to encourage acres of black beans and pinto beans?

With Mexico having 7 months to go before their summer crop of dry beans will be harvested, I wonder how aggressive a buyer they may become over the next 2 months??? Even though their crop was better than the previous 2 years, it wasn't great!

Producers are holding off selling black beans and pinto beans while dealers are working at determining their positions and establishing a proper valuation for producers. Nobody wants to sell their beans at a loss!

If anyone out there has copies of the old US moisture charts, could you please send them to me?

Cutterbar loss on these blacks was cut by 90% with the airbar. Don’t think I’d tell anyone to run edibles without one now. Easily 100-200/acre more gets in the tank in tough conditions.
Finally picked up an air real for the flex head this year. Hoping to pull an extra 60-100lbs an acre on dry beans into the grain tank. What’s everyone else seeing?

If we see a lot more of that as the producers get back to the field nice quality might be able to move the price a little...

It looks like this will be a two-tone Harvest. Some sprouting and discoloration on certain types of beans still in the field. After too much rain any beans that have lost some of their color should be kept separate.

Quality concerns in what class of dry bean ?

The white mold factor this year is more significant than a lot of people thought. Industry is starting to have quality concerns and has slowed down selling 2025 crop.

Nice looking cranberry beans with decent moisture and 149 seeds per 100 g. Yield is very respectable... Hope the weather changes so we can get at the Bean harvest and get the job done!

Found a tile line. And down she went. But without em the whole field would be mud and not cutable.

This is the weather system moving Northeast over the Dry Bean acres in Manitoba and Northern North Dakota today. Next week's forecast is calling for rain on and off almost everyday! Maybe this will help move markets...

Frost hit portions of the Nebraska panhandle. Not sure how it will affect our edible beans. While we are “fringe acres” a lot of the dryland corn crop was frozen. Interested to see how big our crop is. Basis is tough! What’s the pinto bean outlook in ND & #ontag @drybeanworld

That's a lot of water!
5 to 7 inches in 2 hours. Could be a bit hard on the crop. And on the harvest!

White Mold is rearing its ugly head and the conditions are extremely favorable. I recommend having your fields scouted and doing what you can but with only preventative fungicides we may have a problem!

Sunday crop tour. Isolated areas on lighter gravely soils are dead. Much of this vein has been mined. Never pushed a tassel. 3.2” since May 20th at one local gauge. My yard is similar. Most of the 3.2” came on the night of June 18th when strong tornadoes and winds tore across ND.
