Score one more goal than the opposition. That ususally works.

Outwith the Trump side of things - I've always found every one of these late night US shows to be criminally unfunny. Americans would have you think that Letterman or John Stewart are the funniest people ever, when in reality they are just Josh Widdicombe with better teeth.
The last episode of “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert airs Thursday. While its cancellation carries the stench of suspected political interference for many fans, its conclusion also comes at a moment of change for the classic television format. wapo.st/4uQn9GW

RIP to my childhood hero. I'll have a glass of something green later. "I've just worked out a completely new strategy. It's called 'running away.'

I've played as much first team football as one member of the squad this season and there is someone I've never heard of. Had to google to find out who they are.
Here it is, Scotland's World Cup squad! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #BBCFootball

That Paul McCartney version of "Band on the Run" from last night cropped up on my Youtube timeline - there comes a time when you have to leave the stage and someone really should be telling Paul he's had a good run. Last night though......eek!

Farewell Dennis - or as everyone my age automatically thinks "the one without the eyepatch" I shall phone Sylvias Mother in tribute.

Biggest TV event of the year and the acts they've hired are as relevant as if they had booked Gerry & The Pacemakers, Tom Jones and Dana
FIFA has announced that Shakira, Madonna and BTS will headline the half-time show during the World Cup final on July 19. "It gives the fans what they want as we surely get to hear Shakira’s “Waka Waka”, the soundtrack of the 2010 World Cup, live. "It has been stuck in our heads for 16 years like the noise of those vuvuzelas and I’m OK with it." When i worked in Govan he came to our office to vote in that days election. Alas we were not the polling station, I've never trusted him since that moment.
Ian Davidson, the former Labour MP now helping Reform, once suggested gaming the Holyrood electoral system by standing Labour candidates in constituencies and Co-op Party candidates on the list. Labour leaders rejected it as undemocratic. (These days for indy fans it's the norm.)

I don't see Boris or Liz in the photo.
The most unpopular PM in history has brought the second most unpopular PM in history back to help him. Bizarre.

Has there ever been a bigger and stupider corporate shill than Arlo White?
LIV Golf Mexico City is underway. At the top of the broadcast, Arlo White says the reports of LIV's imminent demise "were greatly exaggerated." David Feherty: "This generation has spawned a bunch of fast typists that consider themselves to be experts. Evidently they're not."

An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

People who don't like Condorman are for the watching
Condorman (1981) is fascinating. Disney attempted a James Bond/superhero rival starring Michael Crawford (yes, Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em). It didn't fly, but it has moments of brilliance: Henry Mancini's score, the locations, Oliver Reed, and this Porsche chase
