Learning how to become an instructional designer or eLearning developer doesn't have to be a binary choice between learning the theories vs. learning the tools. You can do both at the same time!
#eLearning#InstructionalDesign
And there isn't a situation when applying the practical theories of ID doesn't require one or more tools, whether that's Word, PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline, or any other tool.
So, if you want to be a well-rounded instructional designer or eLearning developer, it's okay to learn the theories and the tools at the same time...and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
As #2023 approaches, let's #reflect on 2022. One way to #retrospect is ask yourself:
1. What went well?
2. What didn't go as planned?
3. What will you do differently next time?
We'd love to hear your thoughts!
Happy Holidays!

ALT a pyramid shows the Hierarchy of Competence. Unconscious incompetence: right intuition. The skill is "second nature" and can be performed easily. Can teach to others. Conscious competence: right analysis. Understands and knows how to do something. Heavy conscious involvement in executing the new skill. Conscious incompetence: wrong analysis. Recognizes the deficit and sees value in new skill. Doesn't yet know how to do the new skill. Unconscious incompetence: wrong intuition. Does not necessarily recognize the deficit. May deny the usefulness of the skill.
