We are honored to be part of this strategic engagement! When youth and MSMEs gain AI, entrepreneurship & digital skills, the impact is immediate: better jobs, stronger businesses & higher productivity. Long-term, a more competitive, innovation-driven economy. Partnerships matter.
I held a strategic engagement with representatives from Google Hustle Academy and @eMobilis to explore opportunities for strengthening entrepreneurship, AI literacy, and digital skills development among Kenyan youth and MSMEs Google Hustle Academy plays a key role in equipping entrepreneurs with skills in business growth, financial pitching, marketing, productivity, and strategic planning—enabling them to scale and compete effectively. As the backbone of our economy, MSMEs stand to benefit significantly from structured digital training that improves productivity, business management, and access to opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven marketplace. We discussed expanding access to AI and digital skills training, through which beneficiaries of the @NYOTA_Kenya Project will gain practical competencies in artificial intelligence, prompt engineering, data management, cybersecurity, and other in-demand digital skills to enhance employability and productivity. The proposed program will further integrate graduates into markets, support business expansion, and provide ongoing mentorship to foster sustainable enterprise growth, job creation, and competitiveness. This partnership aligns with our efforts to develop an accreditation framework for Business Development Service (BDS) providers, in collaboration with the State Department for TVET, to ensure quality training and standardised curricula that reflect emerging trends and technologies.

Girls in coding programs are 3x more likely to pursue STEM degrees. Women have grown from 8% of the STEM workforce in 1970 to 28% today .This is mainly driven by mentorship, DEI initiatives and education programs. To every girl in a classroom, you are exactly where you belong.

AI has improved data work: faster coding, quicker asset creation and better drafting support. What it hasn’t done is replace the core of what good analysis requires judgement, context or critical thinking. The best teams will know exactly where it adds value and where it doesn’t.

AI governance is the new frontier. It’s inspiring to see African leadership move from tech-talk to tech-action. A 5% GDP boost isn't just a stat; it’s a total economic shift. The future of the continent is being coded today through high-level synergy and responsible innovation!
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to contribute up to five percent to the economic growth of countries when supported by the right policies, regulatory frameworks and strategic investments. This evening, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, H.E Hon. William Kabogo, EGH, participated in a high-level roundtable discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Technologies chaired by H.E. Duma Boko, President of the Republic of Botswana as part of the ongoing Africa Forward Summit. The session brought together African leaders, ministers, industry experts and senior government officials to deliberate on how the continent can harness AI and emerging technologies to accelerate economic transformation, innovation and inclusive growth. The roundtable highlighted the importance of establishing strong AI governance mechanisms to ensure data privacy, data protection and responsible use of emerging technologies, while also fostering trusted partnerships between governments and the private sector. There was a shared consensus that Africa must act with urgency and strengthen collaboration with international partners, innovators and the private sector in order to fully unlock the opportunities presented by AI. Leaders underscored the need for African governments to work together in shaping ethical AI standards, promoting inclusive language technologies and developing practical solutions that address the everyday challenges facing communities across the continent.

“Teach a woman digital skills, and you transform an entire ecosystem around her.” They create ripple effects - businesses emerging, families gaining stability and opportunities expanding for the next generation. This is what real digital empowerment looks like.
Since 2023, through #AjiraForShe in partnership with @eMobilis, we’ve supported 200 young women in Mombasa to turn digital skills into real income. Beyond jobs, the impact is bigger business started, families supported, siblings staying in school. youtu.be/ES1XKbXijd0?si=nP3X…
