Never been a better time for South Carolina to replace Lindsey Graham with a pediatrician.
Breaking: An ongoing measles outbreak in South Carolina has grown to more than 430 cases, the state health department reports. More than half of those cases were reported in the past week. The vast majority of measles cases in the current outbreak have been among children (92%) and nearly all have been unvaccinated with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, according to data shared by the state health department.   -@CNN reporting

Nearly every year for a decade, MS physicians have “ceded” something to NPs seeking to remove physicians from the medical care team until ethically we could give no more. The only “compromise” left is patient safety & that’s just something on which we are unable to haggle. Worse patient outcomes and increased expense when the physician is not involved in the patient’s medical care are data-proven. Thanks @courtneyannj for the interview. @MSMA1 #KeepTheTeam #MedicalSchoolMatters wlbt.com/2025/02/18/pending-…

Epidemic intelligence service officers are the cream of the cream. They're top doctors, veterinarians, and other health professionals. They sign up for a two-year training program to serve the country. Not only is terminating them bad for the country, it's also a disgraceful violation of a commitment.

We can’t Make America Healthy Again by making America unvaccinated again. No matter what he does on chronic disease (and I say this as someone with a masters degree in chronic disease prevention), if vaccinations keep falling and outbreaks keep occurring, RFKs tenure will be defined by the resurgence of vaccine preventable diseases, and even lower US life expectancy. I truly hope he and the administration understand this. 😟

What a great investment into the comprehensive health needs of Forrest Co. and Hattiesburg. This Health Department now sets the standard of how community level public health should be. This was a partnership among County, city, MSDH, and federal support to get this done. Thank you
The Forrest County Health Department held its Grand Reopening on Thursday, following a $5 million remodeling project coordinated by the Forrest County Board of Supervisors and MSDH. The new facility will officially reopen on May 21. #HealthyMS #HealthCantWait

Today @MSHouseOfRep Medicaid Committee heard of potential impacts on access, cost and quality of care on the issue of Medicaid expansion for MS workers. For too long, this issue has been ignored because of political volatility or lack of knowledge on the complexities of the issue

The state Medicaid director and a hospital CEO — neither of them doctors — bucked recommendations from health care professionals and delayed a vote that could have made it easier for expecting Mississippians to receive timely prenatal care. buff.ly/47RPgdS

Did you know that in 2019 we had 322 babies that died before their first birthday? Tune in this evening to @16WAPTNews to learn more about how bad our infant mortality is in our state and how you can help. FYI: It hasn’t gotten better. :-( Our summit today by Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center was very moving on sooooo many levels. We appreciate our media partners that help us with raising awareness. This is an issue we should all care deeply about! #InfantMortality #ChangeCantWait #BetterTogether #PublicHealthMatters
