Woke up this morning and realized that I can’t remember the last time I saw a butterfly. Can you? Then I read this about how butterflies are rapidly disappearing. We live in an unbelievably bleak world. xerces.org/press/study-finds…

This website is a trash pit. Get me off.
Today I saw a homeless guy yank the bag out of an NYC trash can and spread garbage all over the sidewalk. I don’t know if he was looking for recyclables he could sell or just making a mess for the love of the game. But that guy made my day worse. Billionaires did not.

To become rich from curing cancer, you have to withhold the cure from people suffering and dying from cancer. So yes, you don't deserve to get rich from curing cancer. Only in an exploitative and unethical system is this seen as acceptable.
If I cure cancer I will get very rich. And a bunch of people on this site will apparently find my sudden wealth outrageous.

exactly. the WSJ called the IRA a "boon for the fossil fuel sector." currentaffairs.org/news/2022…
This whole discourse has really memory-holed the fact that the climate movement did not try to block anything under Biden. The IRA had a mandate for fossil fuel leasing in it. By 2024 US fossil-fuel production was at record heights. Get the facts right, people. 1/2

“We will not always pump a carcinogenic cocktail of fossil fuels into our vehicles just to run errands or go to work, just as we no longer illuminate our homes with kerosene.” Such a beautiful, inspiring essay by @robinsonmeyer! Please read and share. nytimes.com/2026/06/14/opini…

It used to be that critics of wealth taxes for billionaires would argue that the revenue was primarily symbolic and wouldn’t cover much of the cost of government. But tax Elon’s gains from one day and you raise more money than taking five percent of Gates’ lifetime wealth.

Yes, the climate mvmt's focus on blocking bad stuff has little to show for it. A union-led politics of *delivering* infrastructure has much more promise. Yes, it should be basic to Marxism that labor productivity gains under capitalism can be harnessed for social good/free time.

A family of 4 with a household income of $45,000 has had to pay $41 a month. Under the new, very broken plan under this Department of Education, that monthly payment is now $150. That's a 265% increase.
❌ Runaway student loan interest. ❌ Ballooning principal balances. ❌ Years of payments with no progress. The cycle of student loan debt ends with the Repayment Assistance Plan.
