I believe it’s all about getting straight to the point from the first message instead of starting with “hey” / “hey, got a minute?” and waiting for the answer. Similar was about meetings: “I assume you can see my screen” instead of “can everyone see my screen?”
Some of the most hated messages a CTO can receive from a Software Engineer:
- "Hey, got a minute?"
- "Can we have a chat?"
- "I need to tell you something, when is the best time?"
This isn't obvious, but CTOs instinctively think the Engineer will leave the company.
