The installation will end its 17-year run next Friday, July 26, at 6pm.
Until then, access is free and open to the public 8am to 6pm, Monday-Friday in the lobby of the New York Times building, 620 8th Avenue.

In August, "Moveable Type" (public artwork by @cocteau and me) will end its 17-year run in the New York Times lobby. In the meantime, it's still noisily dismantling news stories in the lobby, and you can see it there for free on weekdays. nytco.com/press/moveable-typ…

For many, LP is an emotional experience. It could be the scale of it, a kind of sublime feeling; or the typed content itself, Roberta Smith calling LP "a chapel to the human need for contact" (#humblebrag 2). But 20 years on, I tear up thinking about LP as a turning point for me.

Twenty years ago, Listening Post opened in the ground floor gallery at the Whitney Museum. LP looked into "all the unrestricted Internet chat rooms in the English-speaking world and dredge[d] up thousands upon thousands of random sentences, even as they are being typed ..."
