Last week, we 70x-ed rendering speeds, both times by replacing ffmpeg with the WebCodecs API. We finally got around to doing a blog post: re.video/blog/faster-renderi…
On my Macbook, I'm now able to render 60s of a full-HD, 30fps video, in 14 seconds. Pretty excited about this!

it meant a lot because @eartothenoise and I always talk about building “small-batch software.” where you almost feel like you’re friends with the ppl who made it. where it’s clear they’re sweating the details. and there’s just enough silliness/weirdness that you know it couldn’t have been made by a huge co. 🧵
